Food Trucks near Simsbury

“The Flavors Food Truck has taken a leap of faith by setting up near the Simsbury Historical Society every Wednesday through Saturday from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM. If the thought of tropical Caribbean cuisine interests you, zip on over for some very good j*** chicken, beef or chicken patties, empanadas, plantains, mac and cheese, Spanish rice, a slew of sandwiches, tropical juices and frozen coladas. Your hosts will be Mike and Dee and I'll bet you a nickel they'll be the sweetest people you've meet all month. Mike is the front counter gent, Dee does the cooking and we had such a wonderful time shooting the breeze with them. We split a terrific chicken empanada as a starter (just $4) and it was flaky and juicy and just freaking great. My wife went for a Grilled Chicken Sandwich ($10) -a huge portion of chicken on a roll with tomato and field greens. I went for a Caribbean Platter (meat and Spanish Rice and four Sweet Plantains). I got the large size ($17) with spicy j*** pork. It was awesome! The rice was very good served with Jamaican style peas and olives, the four sweet plantains were excellent, and so was the shredded j*** pork. Half the portion was plenty for me. So, when I consider the quality, the value, and the customer service, it's hard to find any faults at all. Thanks Mike and Dee for a great meal that served nicely to kick off our pre-Hurricane Henri weekend. “The food is amazing, let me tell you how flavorful the shrimp was.. I only ate one empanada and shrimp taco and was full but it didn't go to waste believe that I had to share this with the fam. I'm giving this place a solid 8.7. Only issue is that they only accept cash and they close at 8, but they have very good customer service. Look at the plating presentation even tho it's a to go order they take their time out for each order.“

“We often pop by the shop to pick up breakfast sandwiches on our way to the office. Recently, we asked Tommy & Marie to help us provide light food options for our art studio's Grand Opening last week. They recommended their stuffed breads (stromboli). We ordered the Italian Combo stromboli, Broccoli Rabe and cheese stromboli, potato salad, and a roasted vegetable and penne salad. The food was a hit!! The breads were such a wonderful idea and EVERYONE asked where we ordered it from. Thanks Tommy’s Place & Market for working with us and helping to make our community debut a success! “Delicious ice cream, so many good flavors to choose from! Raspberry cheesecake with gummy bears is my go to (the best gummy bears!!). The cutest animals to visit, and plenty of seating. We sat by the fire pits, then played corn hole after we finished our ice cream. Love it here!“

“Very cool spot in West Hartford with a fun concept. It's got a brewery type vibe with a nice patio area outdoors with various types of well thought out seating areas. A rotating selection of food trucks are parked adjacent to this area and serve food for lunch, dinner and into the evening. Inside is additional seating and a bar area. Occasionally bands will play on one end of the room. I love that they promote original music here. The food will largely depend on what food trucks are there. Seems like two different ones during the week and three on weekends. They seem to be well curated for quality and variety though. In addition to this they have a small burger and fries type menu inside. The tap list is very solid here featuring a nice variety with many local offerings. The regular staff here who run the bar and deal with general operations are great. Very helpful and friendly all around. Check their social media for food truck and band listings and go check this place out!“

“They have a decent variety of beers, some spirits (not a wide variety), bar bites, and different food trucks outside. Love the atmosphere of this place. Greate place to have a cool beer with the great views of Heublein Tower. They have pet friendly outdoor seating, which is a plus.“

“What sold me on this food truck was the customer service, the lady that took care of us was extremely sweet, attentive and very upbeat. LOVED THAT! Aside from that me and my husband only bought frappes and chocolate covered strawberries this time but they were so delicious and very refreshing. Will return to try more things.“

“I cannot say enough good things about this food truck and the wonderful people that run it! Owners are sweet, kind and caring. I had the lobster roll and clam strip roll. My boyfriend had the spicy fries and fried pickles (he’s vegan). The lobster roll was out of this world! So delicious, warm and buttery! I was amazed at how much lobster meat they included! Clam strip roll was pretty delicious and the sides my boyfriend ordered were so yummy! Cannot wait to try the lobster grilled cheese next time. Thank you Lobster Tales for a wonderful experience! Do yourself a favor and try them out! You won’t regret it!UPDATE: I tried the Lobster Grilled Cheese and wow! Wow, wow, wow! What a blessing for my taste buds! They are geniuses! Years and plenty of trips later, I stand true to my word! The food is incredible, the staff is kind and it’s an experience you won’t forget!! You’re probably thinking, it’s just a food truck, it’s not a big deal. It IS a big deal! Not only are you blessed with delicious lobster rolls that are overflowing with lobster meat along with delicious sides and yummy soda, you are also met with the kindest owners and staff who treat you like family and like one of their own! I even had a chance to talk to the owner because she decided to take time out of her day to approach me and thank me for the kind words that I had mentioned as I grabbed my food. How often do you get that?? I am and will forever be a Lobster Tales food truck fan and have been telling everyone I know about them! They truly are too good to be true! I’m just so grateful to have experienced their kindness and enjoyed their ridiculously delicious food! They are worth the drive! “Maybe it was just the night we visited, but the tacos are different than last year. The vampiro taco last year was a melty, cheesy delicious taco, one of the best I ever had, this year it’s just your standard street taco, not bad just not memorable. No chips, guac, or nachos anymore. I also miss the cocktails on tap. The vibes are still vibing though!“
