Dairy Queen (Treat) Ice Cream Shop • $
1051 Main St, Willimantic

“I have eaten at this DQ since I can remember. It is just down from the college (Eastern Connecticut University) and quite popular with the college crowd as well as all the team sportsters who stop by to get a bite after a game. I do love the Blizzrds- but they seem to stick to me and I've been a cone small -onl y for a while here. The staff is well trained, friendly and quick at their jobs. A friend of mine was visiting from mid NewHampshire and as we approached he said this will be hours -- I usually give r up---- but he was amazed at the quick and accurate service. Kudos to a well run operation“

“The Farmer's Cow Cafe & Creamery is a Windham staple. Situated just outside the Willimantic board, leading into Mansfield. The all-natural beauty offers great ice cream made from local real ingredients. Stop by for some tasty treats or a small bite. The creamery offers sandwiches, soft-served, shakes, eggs, milk, and much more. The inside is small and the line can get packed quickly. But there is an outdoor option where one can sit and enjoy the day. The service was decent and the wait was minimal. Overall 8/10!“

“great ice cream! but service… idkthe manager or person in charge (who seemed to be a college student like me) the day i went in was a little grouchy.i have a friend with a nut allergy and we asked to just use clean scoops when making our ice cream sundae. the cashier said they could do that, but after we were ringed up the manager/person in charge as well as some other workers seemed upset at our order and said that they normally don’t do that. we were like “uhh ok should we change the order?” but they sort of begrudgingly huffed and said they would do it.she also got upset at the cashier who ringed us bc he was new to the job and apparently should have said no to us being able to purchase a sundae given the nut allergy :( hope he’s doing okDietary restrictions: didn’t have a great experience with them in regards to a nut allergy. we said we could change our order but they ended up being kinda passive aggressive and agreeing to do our order. i also overheard the workers gossiping about our order and also scolding the cashier that allowed us to order the sundae we got.“

“This was an online order I placed for my son to be delivered to his university dorm for his bday. They do have insomnia cookies store in town so I knew it would be nice and fresh. Needless to say, they were delivered perfectly wrapped individually as I requested, on time, and my son loved them. I did use Grubhub for delivery- did not use the insomnia cookies delivery system- I cannot advise on the insomnia cookie delivery system, only on the cookies themselvesThey also offer GF, vegan, cookie cakes, ice cream sandwiches and drinks. Check them out.Dietary restrictions: GF, vegan options available“

“The service was a bit slow, but the food was good for a fast food place. Being GF, DF, egg free, peanut free individual, it is hard to eat at fast food places. However, I was surprised to find the different selection of burgers, including vegan, GF buns, lettuce wrap burgers, keto burgers style, vegetarian, paleo, and of course your different style of regular burgers. I had the vegan burger in the lettuce wrap and it was pretty good- no complaints; my son had the bacon cheeseburger and stated his was good as well. We will be back. This location is quite small, with an old retro vibe decor feels to it- kind of cool.“

“Harry's Place has long been a Colchester stable for many decades (1925). It's even identified in Martin Podskoch's "Connecticut 169 Club" book, touring Connecticut's well-known favorites. It holds a special place in my heart as I've been participating in an annual gathering at Harry's for several years. Not only is the food and service spectacular (no... I mean REALLY spectacular!), Harry's Place helps prepare me for Spring and my 'to-do list' mindset with the help of gathering with old and new friends. We sit on one of the many available picnic tables or upon blankets on the spacious grounds with pockets of flower gardens to look at. I use this eatery as my starting point for another year's race for time and activities. And it doesn't hurt that I can frequent back throughout the season to be recharged (smile); the onion-rings are worth it in themselves.I hope Harry's will be around for many more years to come!Bon appetit!Theresa Kegley of Middletown, CTParking: While I do ride my motorcycle there, parking is never an issue. The parking lot is well pressed down so motorcycles don't have issues of loose gravel. And for vehicles of any size and shape, there are plenty of spaces for you too.Kid-friendliness: Lots of room on the grass for kid's to be kids; and as it has a family feel to it, children are well protected.“
