We enjoyed our lunch at Dukes.
Service at our outside table was very good.
Perhaps the only ‘point deduction’ was the rather weird ‘pieces’ of chicken that had been re-heated on a flat grill before being added to the salad. They were very ‘browned’ and a little dry.
Everything else was good; the salad, the sandwich, the fries, etc. and especially our cocktails & wine.

I’ve gone for bottomless mimosas & happy hour, and both experiences were phenomenal! The prices are reasonable, quality of food and drinks is great, and more importantly, the staff is fantastic. You can tell that they want you to come back and become regulars, which I always appreciate it.

My first time at Duke’s grocery and it did not disappoint. Coincidentally went here on national cheeseburger day and their highly acclaimed Proper Burger did not disappoint! They offer it either medium rare or well done I chose the former and loved it! When in DC I will definitely be back at Duke‘s for a Proper Burger. Also had the Loco Elote or crazy corn, which is basically street corn in a bowl with cheese and peppers. It too was delicious!

We went to Duke’s Grocery for brunch and had a good time. The vibe is casual and relaxed, and it’s a nice spot for a weekend meal. The hamburger was good, though not one of the best in DC, but still satisfying overall. A solid choice if you’re in the neighborhood.

It’s so insanely loud inside (we came on a normal weekday evening) that we couldn’t hear each other across a small two person table. Ears were ringing when we left.
The burger is good, but REALLY hard to justify the price tag. The fact that fries are an extra $6 honestly just feels like extortion. If you don’t care at all about conversation or money and only want to put a tasty burger in your face, this would be the right place to go.
