A small group of us ate at Duke's on a recent Saturday afternoon, because one of the group had had lunch there the day before. The weather was perfect for outdoor dining, and the setting on the street was charming. I had the Cubano Desayuno, two others had the Wagyu Burgers, one had the Shakshuka, and one just had fries. We all agreed that our meals were excellent. I am a big fan of Cuban sandwiches in general, and though Duke's is not what I would call exactly traditional, I liked it so much that I would call it one of my favorite Cuban variations ever. Service was very friendly and unrushed.

Perhaps the only ‘point deduction’ was the rather weird ‘pieces’ of chicken that had been re-heated on a flat grill before being added to the salad. They were very ‘browned’ and a little dry.
Everything else was good; the salad, the sandwich, the fries, etc. and especially our cocktails & wine.

I’ve gone for bottomless mimosas & happy hour, and both experiences were phenomenal! The prices are reasonable, quality of food and drinks is great, and more importantly, the staff is fantastic. You can tell that they want you to come back and become regulars, which I always appreciate it.

My first time at Duke’s grocery and it did not disappoint. Coincidentally went here on national cheeseburger day and their highly acclaimed Proper Burger did not disappoint! They offer it either medium rare or well done I chose the former and loved it! When in DC I will definitely be back at Duke‘s for a Proper Burger. Also had the Loco Elote or crazy corn, which is basically street corn in a bowl with cheese and peppers. It too was delicious!
