This is our second time at Via Ghibellina and once again we had a fantastic meal. The formaggio Italiano appetizer had four healthy pieces of really delicious cheese with yummy bread and jam. They also gave us complimentary strips of brick oven pizza strips with olive oil, yum. The branzino and risotto special was outstanding. My spouse got the spinach ravioli and our daughter had the clams and pasta and they were all great. All our desserts - the tiramisu, crème brûlée, and espresso affogato - were all delicious as well. The staff were attentive and drinks also spot on. Can’t recommend enough!

This Tuscan restaurant is spot on. The Aperol Spritz, Ghibellina salad and Cacio de Pepe were wonderful. It was a quiet midweek evening and they weren't that busy, but they should be given the ambiance and quality of their food. I sat at the bar and enjoyed chatting with the bar staff. Go!

Superb, as always. Ate there last week. Maybe our fourth visit in a couple years. Food, as alway, superb. Drinks likewise. The professionalism of the waitstaff, bartender, even busboys - and how they work together seamlessly and efficiently - always amazes. And great atmosphere.

I am normally not an Italian restaurant guy in this town. I feel like you pay too much, however this place is an exception. Everything on the menu is good. the service is top notch.Pretty easy to find the seating during the week. Great atmpsphere. A Rose in Ivy City. They make a New York Strip with an excellent peppercorn sauce. I highly recommend.

3.5 stars! Came for restaurant week on a Friday night and had an overall nice time. We were greeted and seated immediately and the hostess accommodated our request to sit away from the door on a chilly night which was great! Started with their basil cocktail which was refreshing and very basil/lemon forward. They brought out some bread to start which was very thin so more like a cracker. Not bad but definitely would prefer regular bread. I had the lobster bisque which was really tasty though I was surprised there are no chunks of lobster. It's a very thin soup. Tasty and a light starter but missing the indulgence factor for something lobster forward. For dinner I had the ragu. Pasta was cooked perfectly and fresh! The sauce was a little meh. It had a very strange Christmas spice taste to it. Assuming they put clove or allspice in their sauce which just wasn't for me. The beef in the sauce didn't add much flavor. The dish could use some cheese or just more flavor generally. For dessert I had the tiramusu which was really delicious and very light. Not a strong espresso flavor and a mild light treat. Our service all night was excellent! They close pretty early for a DC restaurant, by about 9:30 the space had mostly cleared out and they started to clean up. They were super kind and didn't pressure us to leave in anyway but be aware they close at 10:30 on weekends! I had a perfectly nice dinner here and had wonderful service. The food didn't wow me so I'm not sure I would come back but worth a try.

My Ragu was delicious, the restaurant reminded me of the many trattoria's in Florence and the food felt very authentic. Staff was great and super nice. Will for sure come again. I left my card at the restaurant and they were able to call me immediately and I was able to turn around and grab my card. I really appreciated that.

Such a good spot for dinner, especially great before a fun night of axe throwing (right across the street), beer drinking (Other Half is a true gem and ALSO right across the street), or trying some other Ivy City revelry (Don Ciccio is nearby!). We sat at the bar, which is a nice spot, but there were plenty of open tables. We shared a side of the broccolini, which is one of the best veggie sides I have had all year. It is very garlicky and peppery. So good. The pizza, though, is the star. We shared a margherita di bufala. As was true at their previous location in Logan Circle, their pizza has very fresh mozzarella. The freshness of the cheese is really what defines a margherita, and Ghibellina's is way above average, one of the best in town. They deserve an unlimited number of bonus points because it is served uncut with a giant pair of scissors! Cutting a pizza with these bad boys is unexpectedly addicting, and they work surprisingly well. Getting to try them for yourself is worth the price of admission alone. We had drinks, too - the boulevardier is very satisfying. If you're not into cocktails, they have a large wine list and some solid beer options.

I regret to say that my experience at this location was extremely disappointing, warranting a negative rating. Despite arriving before the establishment's closing time, I was informed that they were closed. Surprisingly, there were still 12 people present in the restaurant, and the cook was actively preparing meals. My guest and I simply wanted a glass of wine, but we were met with resistance as the male staff member claimed there was no bartender. It's worth noting that a bartender is not a prerequisite for serving a simple glass of wine. This incident left me perplexed and frustrated, as the inconsistency between the stated closing time and the actual service provided was highly inconvenient. The lack of flexibility in accommodating basic requests, especially when there are patrons still present and the kitchen is operational, raises concerns about the customer service standards at this establishment. I hope that my feedback serves as constructive criticism for improvement in managing customer expectations and delivering a more consistent and accommodating experience. If you are in the area, I recommend going to Vera or Ivy City Smokehouse instead. Save yourself the disappointment.

Via Ghibellina is a hidden gem located in Ivy City. VG specializes in Tuscan fare, cocktails and wine. The staff are so friendly and welcoming to all guests. They treat us like family given how often we visit. You will not find better Italian cuisine in Washington D.C.From their pasta to their pizza, the food is made to perfection.

Absolutely love Via Ghibellina! Everything was perfect, beginning to end. Their pasta was amazing as always, my boyfriend has a gluten allergy so he had gluten free pasta, and you could not tell the difference. We had their filet mignon with the balsamic reduction and a blueberry reduction, and it was the best steak ever. The steak was cooked to perfection, we could have cut it with a butter knife. Every meal we have had at Via Ghibellina has been great, we will definitely be back.

I've been here twice. In those visits I have ordered the four cheese pizza, mushroom risotto, funghi pizza, panna cotta, tiramisu, and the branzino fish. I have no complaints. Service is prompt. The atmosphere is pleasant. It always makes for a nice stop after visiting the Target nearby. Food is consistent, fresh, and tasty. The funghi (mushroom) pizza in particular was incredible. The place has been pretty empty when we have gone, I hope that's not always the case, because it immediately became a favorite after our first time going. I haven't tried the pasta dishes yet but I'm looking forward to it.Vegetarian options: I'm a vegetarian, and the options are plentiful and tasty.
