Yikes. What happened to this place??!!?? I can no longer recommend eating here. I came here when it first opened and I can promise you that it used to be a beautiful place with food that would knock your socks off. Not anymore. Not now. The chocolate naan that I'd once raved over - no longer offered. The burgers once started at 9 dollars - now you're lucky to get out of there with a bill under 20 bucks. The furnishings were offbeat and eclectic - now it looks (at least from the outside) like it's ready to close down. I actually thought it WAS closed down already. The soda machine has been broken for over 2 years and apparently they have no plans to fix it. There used to be a downstairs area to eat, but it was blocked off the last time I was there. Not enough customers, maybe? Unfortunately, I won't be surprised when the Post announces that GT is on the list of closed DC restaurants pretty soon. It was an ambitious project that unfortunately didn't work. I'll always have my chocolate naan memories.

Tried this place out after hearing numerous people suggest it, and it was ok. The restaurant has two floors, you can find seating at both floors but the top floor is where you order and get your food at. The bottom floor has seating but still seems like a work in progress, it seemed a bit unkempt and dingy. I got the tandoori chicken naan roll and i thought it was pretty good. We went on a weekend and there were a lot of people there, so there was a half hour wait- so be prepared for that if visiting on a weekend.

Their beef naan burgers are amazing and so are the varied flavored naans. The basement has been under renovation; for those who are concerned.

I go here mainly for the naan they made out of tandoor in front of you. Their garlic naan is the best. Being vegetarian I have limited options but I love their spinach and Daal tarka.

Ok I walked in this place on 1/2/19 and it smelled like a toilet exploded so that really turned me off but the only reason I went was because a coworker bought me a gift card from this place...well I attempted to use the Giftcard and the girl working the register said we don't take gift cards I then said well it's a grand trunk gift card!!! Yeah I will never go back, I mean damn how the hell you sell gift cards to your establishment yet your employees aren't aware of them so I took my gift card and walked my black azz outta that place and went next door to Pot Belly good luck with this place

This is probably the worst place to eat Indian/southeast Asian cuisine. It takes forever for the food to be delivered. The bread was uncooked. Too thick and uneven to chew properly. The best place at this place was coca-cola can. ( The machine wasn't working, so had to buy a can)

First off we have tried calling them probably once every weekend for 2 months. But finally called last weekend and got a person on the phone. I placed the order at 1:30 for 4 sandwiches. He told me 30 mins. I got to the location at 2pm and was told 5 more mins. I have 2 kids in the car thankfully my mom was with me. Short story.. I didnt get my food to go till 2:45. That's 1 hour 15 mins after placing my order. There were only 2 families sitting in the resturant.i told the guy that was ridiculous. He goes " I should have told you a longer time". Then we specifically go cause we like their chutney he says they are out. I said you should have made me aware. He goes if you look at our menu it says served upon availability. Alright so I'm upset but at this point everyone is starving I take the food and go to our car. One of the kabob patties were undercooked. One was overcooked. The other 2 were fine. their quality has dropped in taste and size as well as their customer service skills. He had these delivery services set up so doesnt care about actual people that come to restuarant. I wasnt asking for a refund or anything I just want a simple apology after acknowledging that the wait time was too long. -bad customer service -increase price with decreased food -long wait time

Taste-wise, this place is pretty descent, but to be fair, anything placed in fast food containers on a tray looses part of its appeal. There are some positive aspects to this place - It's very close to the touristy National Mall, which is unfortunately surrounded by very little good food. The food is actually pretty descent, and it's not a bad choice since we were trying to see some museums before closing and we didn't have a lot of time to spare for lunch. However, there are some disappointments with this place - The portions are tiny, as there are only a few pieces of chicken soaked in the curry (for the Agra Chicken Tikka Masala). The mini naan burger, which I had high hopes for, was also miniscule. It literally took a couple bites to finish, which really isn't worth the price paid. This place does get some credit for its beautiful interior decorations, especially the sparkly chandelier-type lights and comfy booth sitting. Unfortunately, the lack of air-conditioning is a turn-off for warmer days.

This is the most expensive fast food I had in my life 3 people cost $60 and it was not even worth $6 Out of hundreds of restaurants I have eaten at very few get negative stars. This is among that exclusive club. I am a person that lived for food and pride myself on finding super places. We had high hopes but this place failed. We missed the red flags of so many reviewers earlier. The food here is not what anyone expected . Let me be clear that the food is substandard. The nan bread we were served was likely packaged in a factory and heated up. It definitely did not come out of a tandoori oven that day. The chicken was processed and probably heated out of a frozen box as the preservative and colors seemed to indicate. I really was disappointed Each dish is about $13 + tax + they expect a tip of 10% for fast food. The tip I don't mind paying but it's really like tipping in a fast food place. Overall if you had to eat here or starve, I would probably choose to starve I gave this one star because the guy serving was nice and yelp would not allow a negative star review I would add that the service was hospitable as expected from Asian cultures but the issue was the food quality was lacking. If I had to run this place I would make all the food in house Overall I recommend you use your judgement before spending your dining dollars Important : Read the 85 reviews that is yelp Not recommended . Every one of them is someone who was unhappy about something

I'm not sure if my friend and I went on an off day (although great restaurants would never have an "off" day), but the food and service weren't great. We ordered something, only to have the cashier come over to our table after we'd sat down to tell us that it wasn't available. That's not even a huge deal, but it was an inconvenience. Then the food came, and I felt like the food was really overpriced for what we received. The flavors were underwhelming, the food didn't seem fresh, and I really wouldn't go back to this place or recommend it to others. Save yourself some money and time; go elsewhere.

Recently went back here for lunch and had the tandoori wrap. Loved it! My only issue is the price. They raised their prices by quite a lot since the last time I was there. Burgers used to be $9 and now $12. I thought 12 dollars for a wrap was a little steep. Delicious but steep.

Hey you! Yeah you! I'm talking to you. If you're thinking about eating at this place, then DO IT! No hesitation. Quit trying to pick between some other rando place with normal looking food that you can get anywhere. This place doesn't just serve food, it serves AWESOME sauce in every bite. Like literally, their sauce is out of this world (and hanging with the gourmet aliens) way hell'a good. I love their chandeliers too. They're a nice touch. Wish I took a picture of their food. I took a picture of empty plates. You get me? Empty plates. Enough said.

Well I was going to give it a 3 Star because the paneer tikka masala I ordered was meh. It was little watery and not spicy as I asked them to make it Indian spicy. But the chilly garlic cheese naan stole my heart! It was amazing!!!!! It came with raita, sweet sauce and the chutney! Omg the chutney was soooo good, I wish they gave a bowl of that with the naan, I wouldn't have touched the paneer tikka masala . Anyway should visit this place vegetarian or not, cause you never know maybe the paneer tikka masala is better on other days.

I had such high hopes about this place. I read Yelp reviews before my visit. I love love love Indian food, so it was a bit of a let down when the food did not live up to my standard. I had the chicken naan roll. The chicken itself was dry. The food was not that hot. One of my friends had the chicken masala. She did not enjoy her food either. The chicken was, again, dry. The service was disappointing. We patiently waited while the staff were trying to figure out the POS system. It seemed like the first two did not know what they were doing and had to wait for help from the third guy. There were less than five tables at the time, but the food took quite some time to come out. Another friend of mine ordered fries. She only received that after all of us were done with our food. Due to the register issue, we had to pay with cash. They were nice enough to let my friend to put in her order of burger and fries and pay later. However, throughout our meal, they did not even remind us that she had not paid for her food. What would they have done if we didn't have enough cash or if we forgot to pay for our food.

This place has seriously been a great disappointment! 2 years ago this was such an amazing dining experience, with everything top notch, now nothing works, clearly they are cutting corners with everything, whether its the quantity of food, TASTE, and even the ambiance. The menu screens don't work, soda fountain is out of order or they r just cheap with it, since now soda is by the can. 2 years ago my fav dish was Dal Makhani with rice, it reminded me of my grandmother's cooking, but now its lentils floating in water. Sabzi(Veggie) is a bag of frozen pea carrots and corn tossed with 1 cut potato tossed in tomato curry. Clearly this place has downgraded big time! Wish this wasn't the case.
