Ko Japanese Dining Reviews
Great food and excellent service.
For how much I paid, I feel like the amount/taste doesnt really match. They have a nice view & interiors on the 2nd floor though. 10% tariff fee so heads up before going!
Service was amazing. Food was delicious and truly Japanese. It is a bit on the pricey side but it is truly worth it. Karage tasted amazing as a starter. The sushi set was fresh and tasty. We even got to meet Miki-San, the owner, who told us about her journey as the restaurant’s owner. She is lovely, and her food is amazing.

Ko Japanese Dining is a family‑owned restaurant in Dupont Circle that offers authentic Japanese food. The space is elegant and cozy with soft lighting and modern touches. The waitstaff is professional, courteous, attentive, kind, and thoughtful. The menu has recognizable sushi, hot entrees, and some pub grub seen in izakayas. An extensive drink menu and reasonable happy hour choices are available. Diners can share small plates like edamame, potato croquettes, and chicken karaage. The sukiyaki comes with white rice, Rick vegetable soup, clear noodles, spinach, shiitake, king mushrooms, silken tofu, and paper‑thin beef that is rare and tender. Desserts include basque burnt cheesecake and matcha chiffon cake with azuki, powdered sugar, and whipped cream. A six‑course kaiseki menu features tamago with unagi, caramelized pork belly, shrimp dumpling with lotus root, braised beef with potatoes, squid salad, pickled veggies, assorted sashimi, chawan mushi, grilled wagyu, tempura, rice, miso soup, and vanilla ice cream with macha sauce. The food is authentic, beautifully presented, and full of real Japanese flavor. The atmosphere is warm and calm, making it a perfect spot for anniversaries or special nights.
