My husband and I I came here for a date night LAST Saturday. We had a wonderful time! We had the Dal, buranee bademjan, and mantoo classic/ mantoo shrimp dumplings. All of these appetizers were delicious. We ordered the lamb shank for our dinner. We enjoyed the lamb but it was not as good as the appetizers we ate. We cannot wait to go back to Lapis!
Unique restaurant that I absolutely recommend. It was very, very busy the night we were there, but the atmosphere is really fun. Aushak dumplings were a spectacular shareable to start with flavors which were profound. Really, really great way to begin the meal. The baked pumpkin was also an excellent treat with lots of mint. The lamb tikka, unfortunately, was not tender at all, though flavorful. The pistachio and ricotta cake was a great way to finish. Overall, very positive experience...
One of my favorite spots in DC. Great for lunch, great for dinner, great for bringing friends, great for a date night, great for bringing your parents—truly an all purpose establishment. Love the cocktails, and you MUST get the aushak!!
