When I’m in this neighborhood I always stop by Merzi. I love the man bread and in the winter I always get the chai tea.

It is shut down and all equipment has been removed.

This place definitely beats Chiptole in my opinion! It's an Indian style of Chipotle and I almost ordered everything except for the chickpeas, beans, and the choice of meat. I thought the flavor was very tasty and rich. I can really taste the flavor in each bite! It's also healthier than Chipotle and their masala sauce was delightful! I got it with iced chai tea and I am a HUGE fan!! It wasn't too sweet or too bland, just perfect. Places such as these encourage me to try more food of a different culture rather than sticking to one that you are familiar with. The service was fast and the price was reasonable. Instructions given for building a bowl were understandable but I think the workers can be a bit more willing to help.

Merzi was amazing and donated food to our unit for lunch. I've never had their food before I will definitely have it again! It was absolutely delicious and was so filling! They give you are generous amount of food and the seasoning is spot on. Thank you so much for thinking of us nurses during this trying time.

While I was in National mall, I was looking for a place for lunch and found this Indian place just a few blocks away. This place does not have an elaborate menu or is not a fine dining restaurant. But is a casual and fast paced place with ample seating. You choose the base which was rice for me, two proteins and sides. I selected chicken tikka as both my proteins and vegetables as my side. The food tasted good if not pure authentic Indian and had good portioning. I would suggest this place if you are looking for a quick bite and craving for some Indian food.

Went for lunch with co-worker. I am not a big fan of Indian food (well, I thought I wasn't), but I wanted to try something different. I LOVE this place! It is rather small, where you walk up and pick items to put in a bowl. Some seating (I'd say maybe 30 or so seats). You get to pick your base (mine was rice), hot vegetable(s) (I had cabbage and chickpeas), a protein (I had chicken) and various sauces and add-ons. We also shared an order of samosas (yummy, but VERY small--not worth the price given the size). Oh and they have two bowl sizes, I got the small and still had about 1/4 left over for a snack later. The food was really tasty. At first it seemed like a hot mess with all of those things mixed in (think Indian Chipotle), but once I got over the look and dug in, it was really good. The Samosa was delicious, but just too small. So small in fact, it was fried a bit too hard. All in all, I'd go back. They are pretty fast (lots of servers) and the food is good. Oh, one reason why I thought I didn't like Indian food is to me it is usually too spicy. This is not...not even a little bit. Perhaps you can add a bit of spice depending on the sauces you choose. I stayed on the mild side and was very happy.

Merzi is fast, healthy, delicious, and consistent. It's satisfying, amazing flavors, and great quality. Also, large portions mean you can take lunch leftovers home for dinner - great value!

Food is awesome here. There are discounts for certain times of the day. And the mango lassi is awesome any time of the day. Vegans are welcome. Lots of options

Stopped in recently to finally try Merzi, wasn't overly impressed. It's a good amount of food with typical lunch prices for the area. Restaurant has a few tables inside, but I got takeout and took it back to the office. My bowl was ok - all flavors and textures kinda blended together. I had the paneer makhani bowl, the sauce wasn't super flavorful. The most flavor I got was out of the pickled red onions. Paneer, chicken, and potatoes (?) were all cut to be the same size and everything got lost. I didn't love the addition of potatoes in this and they were everywhere, ended up picking them out. Chicken and paneer didn't stand out flavorwise which didn't help.

This was the worst i got the naan bow and it was drenched in water from the food on top . Very poorly put together . My coworker got rice bowls and they were wet too.

Freaking delicious! Totally the best fast casual around the area, great price, service is usually pretty quick, go, get some! You'll enjoy it if you like Indian at all.

It's like an Indian Chipotle. Really tasty Indian food. No matter what combination of food you get, it turns out good. Pro tip: get a variety of chutneys (especially mango and minto). It gives an amazing combination of sweet and sour.
