The food here is excellent ( pho, banmi, vermicelli), consistently made with quality ingredients. I've dined here twice, and the service dramatically impacts the experience.
My first visit (Nov 16, 2025) was superb. The waitress/cashier was incredibly welcoming, attentive, and genuinely happy, making our dining experience a pleasure.
My second visit (Last week) was disappointing. We were not greeted upon arrival as staff were busy eating. When they did approach...

I ordered pho & beef spring rolls. Both were amazing and I highly recommend trying this place if you haven’t already. Their fish sauce too is different than everyone’s, definitely a level up!!!

I love Phonatics. Something about the texture and flavor of the broth makes it my favorite, and I love sitting at the window and watching 14th St. There is even a bald eagle that flies around Columbia Heights that I occasionally spot from the window.
