High prices, tasty food, sluggish staff. Tables rarely wiped down, garbage overflowing.

One of my favorite spots in D.C.! One of the first things I noticed was the employees. I don’t know how the company does it, but every single worker is the most friendly, courteous individual you will find at establishments like these. An increasingly rare thing these days. The friendly service is matched by their incredible gelato. You can tell that it is made with real, fresh ingredients. The chocolate they use is unreal. Not overly sweet but with flavors that have you asking where have others been hiding it. The pistachio gelato is made with real pistachios, not some sort of pistachio flavoring. I always get a cup of their drip coffee to go with it. Really good.I stop by Pitango often and have never had a bad experience. I’m betting you won’t either.

What a nice little neighborhood spot. Great coffee, a fantastic chai, and some to-die-for focaccia sandwiches. Service is always prompt, even with a line. If you're looking for a place to sit and work at a quaint coffee shop, Pitango is a great option. Most recently, I tried their Milano and Mortadella sandwiches. Both were fantastic- the focaccia is the star of the show, complimented by simple, high quality ingredients, and not too greasy like a lot of other focaccias. The only downside to this place is the price. For two sandwiches and two chai lattes, the total came to around $51. Would recommend- just not an every-day spot.

This is one of my favorite coffee shops in the city. Each time I arrive staff is incredibly friendly and kind. A shout out to Tony who I always see going above whether it’s wiping down tables, or delivering menu items. Oh, and he makes the best matcha tea lattes! Pitango is a great place to get some work done, catch up with a friend, or if you’re in the mood for gelato. This is definitely a neighborhood GEM! Playlist is also always on point. Highly recommend.

Asked for a pint of pistachio. Girl packed me half a pint. I opened the pint and said it’s half empty. She said I’m out and showed me the empty container. I said you could’ve said. She gave me an extra 2oz of something else and we called it a day. Sunday crew there don’t wanna be there. For 15 bucks a pint I’m gonna tell my homies to go back to Jack and Jill.

If you like good focaccia, coffee, and charcuterie, don't pass on this place. It's fantastic coffee and really, really perfect focaccia. I am still thinking about the sandwich I had hours later. Cool attention to the prosciutto sourcing process as well.I often walk past places like this curiously, and keep walking -- newer places that cater upmarket aren't always accessible to everyone. But this is truly a friendly neighborhood cafe and I like coming here to treat myself to a sandwich every couple months. (Bonus, it's right next to the pharmacy and on a good bus line). Will keep it as a ritual whenever life allows.

Pitango is great for a drink, bite to eat, and to work as it has plenty of seating. The manager and employees are nice. My only critique is they seem to have poor ventilation/air quality. I don't have asthma or any breathing problems and I always feel like I'm struggling to breathe in there while they are cooking something.

Nice atmosphere and staff - however, I am shocked about the $1,25 extra fee for alternative milk. That’s the most expensive add-on fee on alternative milk I’ve come across in the area. Some of us have health issues and cannot drink dairy, so it is frustrating to be paying that much more just for an alternative. It is already not a cheap place and serves the drinks in small cup for a pretty high price - almost $8 for a small basic chai tea hurts a lot!

I went to Italy 10 years ago and have been searching for authentic gelato since. This is the first place that gave me that! Texture was perfect and finally not just like ice cream like all the others. I am a happy gal!! Super cute place with kind people behind the counter.

Can’t judge the food, since we didn’t get to enjoy it. We walked there with my daughter , first of all had to wait until we were able to find free table. The free tables were full with dirty dishes and it took a while until someone came to clean up. The stuff wouldn’t greet and wouldn’t pay attention to waiting customers, completely ignoring us and walking by. I had to call someone to come and wipe the table . She came with such attitude, unhappy , without saying hello and grumpy faced . She wiped the table in hostile silence, like we forced her to do something unpleasant. When we wanted to order food, there was another unpleasant surprise, they don’t accept cash , only cards. I live abroad and I had only dollars in cash , so we had to leave after wasting so long time waiting for table. What a bad service . Won’t recommend anybody .

I frequent Pitango, and it's a great cafe to get a drink or a snack and sit for a few hours. The star of the show is their focaccia, which is freshly baked in house. Their focaccia sandwiches are incredible, with my favorite being the Mortadella. The combination of the crunchy focaccia with creamy mozzarella is already great, but the acidity and sweetness brought in by the pepperoncini and roasted bell peppers just takes it to the next level. The sandwiches are a little on the expensive side, but are worth it in my opinion. However, their drinks are very expensive, especially if you want a milk substitute. Regardless, this is a great spot in the Kalorama/Adam's Morgan area!
