Lapis Reviews
Went for desserts and it was the perfect way to end the evening. It was a bit loud, even on the patio area. Definitely cozy vibes. Would go back and try dinner, everything looked amazing. They had some great coffee/tea drinks that perfectly complimented desserts.
Excellent food for a reasonable price given the portions! I stopped by for lunch and had the steak tikka and a chai; I considered ordering a salad at the beginning but I was quite full from the one main entree. Excellent vibe and good service. The restaurant has plenty of gluten free options, and as someone with celiac’s disease, I felt taken care of by the waitress on the allergy accommodations! Would definitely recommend.
Incredible food. One of the best meals I’ve ever had. Highly recommend. The qabuli palow was seriously fantastic, so flavorful, lots of cardamom. Magical flavors

Lapis is an excellent Afghan restaurant located in a chic neighborhood of Washington. The venue offers a variety of authentic Afghan dishes, including stuffed flat breads, ground beef patties, and assorted kabobs, all praised for their intense flavors and fragrances. The menu also features delicious lamb tikka, dal, zardak, and kofta dishes, as well as a range of non-alcoholic drinks, including a tea with star anise that is highly recommended. The indoor area is very pretty, with nice lighting and design elements, creating a pleasant atmosphere. The service is generally good, with staff that are kind and efficient, although some reviews mention that they only come to the table a few times. The food is often described as delicious, with favorites like chapli kabab, skewered meat, stuffed bread, and eggplant without dairy. The naan can sometimes be stiff and dry, but drinks are well-liked. The outdoor seating is also very pleasant, making Lapis a versatile spot for lunch, dinner, or special occasions. Overall, Lapis provides an excellent and memorable dining experience, with a unique ambiance and flavorful dishes that keep customers coming back.
