Best coffee and best gelato 🤩!!!!

Arielle McKeever

Some of the worst gelato I’ve had. The consistency was very gooey and glue like. Had stracciatella which had dark chocolate flakes but the gelato itself tasted more like a banana than anything. Very disappointing given the $8 cost for a small. Would not normally write a review but for the high cost this is just not worth it! Surprised on how disappointing this was given the decent review of this place. Maybe it was just a bad batch but had two flavors that were both gooey.

I stopped into Pitango Gelato after seeing the sign for sipping chocolate and I’m so glad I did. The sipping chocolate was amazing, super rich and delicious. Their coffee was really good too, and the staff were so friendly and pleasant. Definitely worth a visit!

I was strolling through Penn Quarter after a late happy hour with colleagues when I spotted Pitango Gelato DC, a cozy artisan gelato shop tucked right in downtown. I thought I’d just peek at the flavors out of curiosity with no plans to actually get anything.

Well… that plan didn’t last long. The menu featured some of my favorites like passionfruit, mojito, and a floral hibiscus combo that immediately caught my eye. I figured a few taste tests couldn’t hurt, right?

After sampling a few, I was completely sold. I planned to go with passionfruit and hibiscus until Grace, one of the amazing staff members, suggested I try the golden kiwi. It was bright, refreshing, and so unique that I changed my order on the spot.

Shout out and thank you to Grace and the Saturday night Pitango team for being so friendly and full of personality. We chatted briefly while paying, and it made the visit even better.

What started as a ā€œquick lookā€ turned into the sweetest surprise. If you’re in downtown DC or exploring Penn Quarter, definitely stop by Pitango Gelato for fresh, creative flavors and the best gelato in Washington DC. I’ll definitely be back for more! šŸØāœØ

They had Summer Course still posted on the door, so confirm before you go.

Stopped by here on a trip for a little snack and my friends and I were blown away by the amazing gelato. The service was 10/10. Manny and Woodrow were amazing servers. We will be visiting again šŸ’š

We stopped here last year during a trip and knew we want to come back. 1 year later we walked the extra mile passing several coffee and ice cream stops knowing what a great place this is. Best cappuccino and gelato in town! Kudos to the owner! He knows customer service and has an amazing personality and spirit.

Great, customer service from Brent. I ordered a Affogato and it was the first of many. I highly recommend going to the shop around noon. The atmosphere is great during the rush hour period of lunch and the next afternoon meeting.

Friendly, professional service. That said, gelato was served in a very soft melting state where it was messy to eat. Also, although the dish size was the same as other D.C. gelato places we visited, the serving size was significantly smaller.

Great service. The staff also has good banter! (Ask them for the stracciatella or strawberries and cream)
