Slipstream Reviews
Love having this restaurant in my neighborhood. They’re doing great things in the kitchen and changing their menu. The best deal around for sure! What a gem in the Navy Yard!
Five stars for the playlist alone! Whoever chose the vibe on a Sunday afternoon, deserves all the accolades.
One of the servers, Mark, helped me find all the best substitutions for my Slipstream breakfast sandwich, including substituting the ham for avocado. An excellent choice! My oatmilk latte with their house vanilla syrup was also very delicious.
Deducted a star because the bar area toward the back was a bit unkept. Otherwise, great spot!
We ordered the smoked salmon toast and chicken rice bowl for takeout. The smoked salmon was perfectly crispy and flavorful. From smoky to savory to tangy flavors. The chicken rice bowl was delicious as well, the chicken was very well seasoned and loved the dressing so much! very pleased with this place.
Slipstream, a modern and hip cafe located in the Navy Yard area, offers a delightful breakfast experience. The coffee, while not exceptional, meets expectations, though a rare leaky cup incident was reported. The breakfast sandwiches, featuring a unique jam, are praised for their satisfying portions and sturdy construction. The service is typical, with a brief wait for freshly prepared food. The vibe on a Sunday afternoon creates a lively atmosphere, and the playlist adds to the overall experience. Staff members, like Mark, are helpful, offering great substitutions such as replacing ham with avocado on the Slipstream breakfast sandwich. The cafe also serves a vegan orange cranberry scone and a very delicious vegan scone, catering to dietary restrictions with alternative milks. The smoked salmon toast, with perfectly crispy and flavorful salmon, and the chicken rice bowl, which is well seasoned and complemented by a tasty dressing, are highly recommended, especially for takeout. While the location is convenient for pedestrians, parking may be difficult. Though not a budget option, Slipstream attracts a young professional and weekend crowd, providing a craft breakfast in a lively environment. The automatic 18% gratuity has been a point of contention for some customers. Overall, it is a great spot with friendly staff and good food.
