“This restaurant genuinely feels like stepping into a traditional Spanish taberna without leaving the city. The space is cozy, elegant, and welcoming — perfect for a relaxed dinner where you can take your time and enjoy the experience.
We focused on tapas, and everything was beautifully paced. Standout dishes included the gambas al ajillo (perfectly cooked shrimp with crispy garlic), crabmeat fritters, pulpo, and the unforgettable fried eggplant with honey — light, crispy, and somehow cloud-like. The paella was also flavorful and well-balanced. Drinks were excellent and arrived quickly, which always adds to a great evening.

“Don’t let Atxondo’s modest looks deceive you. I was skeptical but some friends wanted to try this place so I went along. I was very pleasantly surprised. We ate vegetarian and everything was excellent. I can recommend the brussel sprouts, tortilla española, crispy potatoes, coliflor, golden beets, fried shishitos, and risotto. I almost forgot to mention the interesting drink menu and the best flan I’ve ever had. Service was great too. Go with a group so you can try everything!“

“This is a neighborhood restaurant on Georgia Avenue, suitable for family and friend mesls, lunch or dinner. The menu is excellent and the plate presentations are beautiful. Big screen TV's are strategically placed in all directions, should you be a sports afficiando. In the evening the second floor becomes place latinx music. There is a bar and restrooms. The basement sports billards, food and music. The service is warm and friendly. It is not yet total ADA disability friendly to wheelchairs. The new ownership indicates possibly to make those improvements in the future. Until then, carryout is still very good.“

“I came here for brunch to celebrate my birthday. The food was amazing! I highly recommend the Shakshouka and the Morrocan Pancakes as highlights on the brunch menu. I had an excellent experience at River Club. The food was outstanding, with beautiful presentation and dishes that were clearly prepared with dedication and full of flavor. Every plate looked amazing and tasted even better.

Stellar partridge followed by a sumptuous pork Wellington. Orange themed deserts were a light and satisfying finish. Well, before we were guided to the living room for a few more sweet treats and tea. The service was lovely, attentive and warm. A perfect evening, bringing a bit of Spain to DC.“
