Perfect soup & sandwich. Pastrami & Swiss panini was perfect with a small cup of clam chowder after a long flight. Great prices & friendly service. I'll definitely return while in this beautiful city!

This is by far the best sushi/omakase value in the DC MD VA area. Their $50 omakase is a steal! I believe the owner plans on re-opening this location soon. By the way, they are doing takeout at the original location during this pandemic. Obviously I've eaten here a number of times...I try to make eating here a normal occurrence. By far the best sushi and service for sushi. Give them a try and I guarantee you will not regret it.

---Pre-Covid Review--- 4.25/5- Rounding up for great price & service Stopped by on a Saturday night around 6pm for dinner during my pre-covid visit to DC. The restaurant was fairly busy but I was able to get a seat without a wait. The service was extremely friendly and the overall dining experience was very relaxed and pleasant. For my meal I went for the omakase which is 12 pieces of nigiri and a handroll for $50. Honestly it's a fantastic deal. The fish quality does represent the price tag a bit but they were generally still flavorful pieces and the variety I received was unique. The rice came out warm and on the moister side. Each grain was a bit on the softer/mushy side but it still managed to maintain individual grains vs becoming one compressed rice ball. I wish the fish was kept at a colder temperature so that it would hold better against the warm rice. My meal included the following: 1) Seabass- Surprisingly tender, clean bite, lightly salted. 2) Akami 3) Hamachi (Hawaiian yellowtail) 4) Hotate 5) Salmon Toro Aburi 6) Otoro 7) Amberjack: Another yellowtail but leaner 8) Sweet Shrimp 9) Gindara: Sablefish, a nice fatty finish 10) Kurodai: Oily and rich flavor but finishes clean 11) Mackerel 12) Aji: Fatty and plump and not too pickled 13) Negitoro Handroll with tuna cheek 14) Soup & Hot Tea Overall, for $50, this was a really great meal. It may not be a typical omakase experience but seeing this as a deluxe nigiri set, I am very happy with my meal.

Sushi Capitol does it again and opens another location right in the heart of Chinatown that provides an intimate hip dining experience. Think minimal designs, efficient use of its small space, and lovely service. After a year of not eating sushi, Sushi Capitol was the first place we went to for a sushi date pre-Covid. The staff was wonderful, sushi chef super talented, and I will always enjoy my amazing experience there.

The Chirashi is okay for the price. They were doing good covid-19 practices. The service was phenomenal.

I have been to this place multiple times in the past, and really enjoyed their omakase experience every time! I honestly believe they are one of the best sushi restaurants in DMV area. This was my first time trying takeout order from Sushi Capitol, and though it was not quite the experience I had in the past, I still found their sushi is excellent and very fresh. I would definitely come back for their takeout and honestly can't wait for them to open for dine in again soon.

I cam here a few weeks ago and got a chirashi bowl for take out. The bowl had a variety of fish, and from what I can tell, it included salmon, tuna, mackerel, tamago, etc. The tuna tasted especially fresh. I am not a big fan of oily fish and prefer when sushi chefs use techniques to reduce or compliment the fishy-ness of mackerel. The mackerel in the bowl was a bit overwhelming and it became the dominant flavor of the bowl even when I was trying to taste the rice or other toppings. A decent selection of fish, but with its price (about $30), I was expecting more variety and flavors.

*****To go review*****I've been to the other Sushi Capitol location previously and really enjoyed the sushi, so was happy to see they recently opened up another location. Grabbed food to go while downtown. Ordered via Grubhub through the Yelp app, which was super easy to do. When I got to the restaurant, my order was ready for pick-up.The sushi special, which included 5 nigiri pieces and an 8 piece roll, I thought was a steal deal. All pieces were chef's choice, and I appreciated the Chef providing an extra nigiri piece. Not quite sure what kind of roll I had, or what all the nigiri pieces were, but I do know this sushi was legit. Every piece melted in my mouth and was super fresh. So good! Although the sushi is a tad pricy, I definitely feel it's worth the price. When things start settling done, I see myself coming back for the omakase. Until then, I'll stick with the sushi sets and chirashi!

I now realize that this place is a grab and go establishment which one day may expand to seating upstairs. I was also distracted with the spicy sauce that was barely there. Check the picture. Overall, if I was in Chinatown and hungry I would go there again, maybe.

Take out was very underwhelming. Not sure how this place has such good reviews. Maybe if you dine in and it's not Covid times it's way better but take out today left very much to be desired. I expected a lot more from sushi gold (which is $40) What I got was: very average quality and small pieces of fish. No fancy tuna or even ikura or anything of real value. $20 roll again was very weak. Idk maybe I have high standards coming from nyc but I guess reviews mislead me a little bit.

A delicious way to get a quick fix of sushi during lunch. The chirashi bowl seems like a great value but I went the more luxurious 12 piece omakase option. Sat at the bar, the chef was very friendly and introduced every piece as it was being presented. Some nice conversation since I was the only customer at the sushi bar which only seats a couple people. There's no tables and the only additional seating is a bar facing the window that seats very few people.

One of the best omakase experiences in DC. Some are even saying it compares to or outstrips meals we've had in New York and Japan. Knowing how pretentious that sounds, this is a simple little sushi counter with great quality fish. Recommend walking here instead of driving if you're coming on a weekend given the proximity to the arena, or at least getting most of the way here on public transport. Now that everyone is at home for isolation, I want to highlight that sushi Capitol is in fact open for takeout! And it's still really good!

Super fun staff and delicious straightforward clean flavors. We went back twice in a row!

I've had great Chirashi bowls in Miami, New York and Madrid; but the one I had at Sushi Capitol topped them all. The work the chef puts into the sushi here is obvious, everything was exquisite. Everyone was friendly, and the restaurant is small and simple. I'll certainly come back once I'm in DC again

Outstanding lunch and a short walk from the convention center. The young men who served us have a passion for fresh ingredients and introduced us to new fish varieties. Take a moment to ask them for a recommendation!
