“I have had some BBQ in my day and nothing, and I mean nothing, approaches the taste and texture of Wholly Smoke BBQ.

I catered a lunch for my office staff and colleagues of 16 people, and dealing with the owner Phara was such a pleasure. Planning the event was simple and easy. I told Phara what I wanted - sliced brisket, pulled pork, and St. Louis ribs - Phara suggested the sides to go along with the entrees and voila it was done.

In sum, the food was beyond delicious, the staff punctual, reliable, and courteous in making the delivery to my office, and what really blew my mind, the price was incredibly affordable, which I was able to pay online. The best deal on four wheels.

Wholly Smoke, however, is not a food truck. Phara has a restaurant where you can sit down and enjoy a meal or takeout for eating at home or with friends. For these reasons I give Phara and Wholly Smoke five stars“

“On a short layover decided to take the beaten path a found this food truck lot. We had the Sheker Agha Wrap and it was delicious. It was well worth ever penny $15 cones with fries. The presentation was perfect. And portions are big. Definitely worth the taxi from the airport to try this delicious meal.“

“This was our first time at Holy Avocado. As an avocado lover, I enjoyed this little restaurant. I enjoyed a salmon taco and a beef taco. Hubby enjoyed the chicken bowl. The flavors were endpoint and the food was fresh. Best of all the sour sop drink was very refreshing. We will be back for sure.“

“Some of my favorite places to eat are restaurants that transitioned from food trucks as is the case with BMC Smash Burgers. BMC Smash Burgers began in 2021 as a popular food truck, Eat BMC operated by Jason "Jay Rok" Smith. In August of this year the brick-and-mortar location of BMC Smashburger opened on Dixie Highway in Oakland Park. Smith has taken smash burgers, thin beef patties cooked on a super-hot griddle to a new level of deliciousness. The burger is pressed with a spatula, to increase browning and crispy edges for maximum flavor. The smash burger technique is said to have been popularized by the Smashburger chain founded in Denver in 2007.

I finally got the chance to try BMC Smash Burgers after visiting the Small Biz Saturday Local Makers Market that was being held across the tracks. Parking for the restaurant is limited but I found a strip of free spaces across the street. The inside is no frills with a few tables and two more out front. You order at the counter and they brought my food out to me when it was ready. While I waited for my meal I was able to watch cooking in the open kitchen.

The menu features the smash burgers that made them famous but it also has a patty melt, hot dogs, tots, and fries. Dessert is a fresh baked cookie. You can't go wrong with the BMC Smash, a house blend patty of chuck-brisket-short rib blend , grilled onions, American cheese, BMC sauce, and house pickles, or take it up a notch with a Spicy BMC Smash, which start with the classic BMC Smash Burger and adds pepper jack cheese and house-pickled jalapeños.

I ordered the single BMC burger with fries and I was not disappointed. The flavor packed burger had crispy, lacy edges while still remaining juicy in the middle. The house made pickles are chef's kiss and the BMC signature sauce was the perfect topping for the burger while also making an excellent dipping sauce for the fries. It is easy to see why so many lists have named BMC smash burgers as the best in Broward.“

“We randomly stopped at a gas station and found this taco truck—what a surprise! These tacos taste just like the ones I had in San Diego—super authentic. The Al Pastor and Asada were my favorites. They also offer classics like Lengua and tripe. I just wish pico de gallo came included instead of being extra. Still, totally worth it!“

“Amazing food truck with ample seating, excellent tacos. We tried three of their tacos and every one was great, perfectly accompanied by delicious garnishes. We met the owner Vanessa and she was lovey, explaining their food style (Mexico City…our favorite) and that everything is fresh (which was obvious from the taste).
