I tried the lobster quesadilla, which was good—not my favorite, but still enjoyable. The real standout was the chef's special, the Lona steak and fries. The steak was absolutely delicious, perfectly cooked, and easily my favorite dish of the night. I'd definitely come back just for that!
Very fun vibe and attentive service. Good chips and salsa but otherwise the food was definitely below average. The traditional guacamole was so salty that we couldn't eat it. The carne asada in the tacos was tough and chewy as was the shrimp in those tacos. Would definitely not recommend this restaurant.
Service was excellent. Ambience nice and right on the beach. Food good too loved the Mexican rice and shrimp tacos!
We went for a birthday celebration and chose to do the Sunday brunch buffet. The food was plentiful and fresh. We especially loved the salmon and guacamole. All the staff was very attentive, welcoming, and helpful. We loved our waiter, Nelson, who serenaded the birthday girl as well. The mariachi band was a little loud for my taste, but the other members in our party loved them. We had a great oceanfront view and enjoyed our experience at Lona Cocina y Taqueria.
We just wanted something to hold us and the kids over so they wouldn't have to ruin our vacation by complaining later in the night, so we stopped in for a quick and small bite. Very decently priced, especially in comparison to what we're use to, so we assumed the quantity (and maybe even the quality) would be less. Definitely not so. We got 2 fajitas that could've fed 4 adults, and which was magnificent. The guac was so good and pretty much put on everything we had. So good. If we had more time, we'd want to revisit this restaurant again.
Our first experience at Lona Cocina was December 2024, before a Christmas cruise. My family enjoyed the restaurant so much, I planned for another trip back to Ft. Lauderdale based on the restaurant. We had dinner here twice. Our first night was great, with a beachfront view and amazing ocean breeze for 2 of us. The tacos were great. Friday night's dinner was fantastic. Another beachfront table for a party of 7. There truly there isn't a “bad” seat on the patio. Richard R. was so personable and sassy. We appreciated his attentiveness. We really enjoyed him. Half of our guest once lived in DC and NY so he felt so familiar. The sangria was delicious. The shrimp and crab enchilada was a big hit for us. The lobster guacamole, amazing! i would suggest indoor seating if you wish to have a more conversational night. The DJ turned the patio into a party vibe. We had fun.
Good food, great service! However, we felt a little rushed as the mains came out shortly after the apps were served.
Been there several times. Parking is always an issue plan to pay at least $10 to valet and $5 min to tip. That's the best way. That couples with their higher for the quantity and value of the food reduces the overall value. The view makes up for it. People are nice and working hard out in the heat. The menu is very limited too.
Overall, it was a enjoyable dining experience. Our server, Margo was friendly, attentive and efficient. The drinks and food were well presented and well prepared. I would definitely recommend Lona for its good food and nice festive atmosphere.
Had a great lunch at Lona Cocina yesterday while visiting Fort Lauderdale for a few days. I had the mushroom empanada and they were fantastic. My husband had the pork tacos and they were very good. Daniel was our waiter and he was great!!

The food is great! The service good! The only downside is the cocktails with tequila I don't like it's taste
We thought the food was average. The service and margaritas were below average. The patio and views were nice.
The food was fine. It’s definitely a basic resort Mexican restaurant. Good location, good vibes but the food was pretty pricey for very mid tasting food. Definitely not your local Mexican restaurant.
Amazing food, drinks. Everything absolutely wonderful! Our waiter Richard was super lovely and made the experience extra memorable.

I ordered the Chicken Tacos and they were very tasty, but lacking some seasoning on the chicken. Nonetheless, still a 5 star taco. The service was weird, they forgot my little sisters drinks until the food was served and the waiter realized there wasn’t any drinks. Took around 5 minutes for the drink but it’s no big deal.
