Arashi Yama sushi & hibachi lounge

Felt like some good sushi before a night of poker. This place ranks IMPO 2nd to Dragon Fly with out the stupid crowds. Shashami out of thid world fresh blur fin Tuna excellent service and great communication with the Sushi Chef. 100 I will eat there again. Also sample some great Japanese Whiskey.

We’ve gone twice and the first time was stellar. The sushi was amazing and beef fried rice was killer. The second time our server was meh at best. The sushi was amazing and the beef fried rice was awful. We will try once again and it is in the “hit or miss” category for us at this point.

We ended up here on accident. It is now our favorite restaurant in Gainesville. The food is amazing the sushi is some of the best I have ever had. We have been here twice now because we couldn’t wait to come back! We have sat at the sushi bar both times and had the same waiter both times and he is so good! Just super pleasant and attentive. We got the crème brûlée and it was wonderful! My whole family enjoys every bite of their meal and that is rare to find anywhere! Just ate some leftovers after work today and the sauces that come with the dumplings is amazing! Can’t wait to go back!

I am very displeased and utterly disgusted with the behavior of the owner of Arashi. As a frequent customer of this restaurant. I was surprised by a pop up visit from the owner while seated for a lunch date. She showed me in her phone a receipt from her camera roll with my debt card information displayed. She shared that she acknowledged that ‘I was a frequent customer.’ This receipt was from 4/7. My encounter on 4/7 was for a party of 4, with paid balance over a $150 total and a $21 cash tip provider. The parties and I that were seated with were in shock. She proceeded to say that a tip was not provided. I explained that I provided a tip in cash. She stated ‘oh someone must have taken it.’ After further consideration, we decided to leave. I called her over to explain we were uncomfortable with her behavior while dining. She explained she does this with all customers, her employees make their money off their tips. She added that we should come in the restaurant if not do not give a generous tip. My party explained, ‘what if the customer did not have money to pay for a tip.’ Her response was then do not come here. After recalling the encounter, we the only black customer there on 4/7 and also today. Due to her behavior displayed I’m convinced the owner has some racial issues. I was taken aback by her actions.
I would highly recommend tip or no tip to not give this place another dime. I would have never imagined being treated in such a way. Please be careful using your credit and debit card at this restaurant!!! I have never been to a restaurant where this was done. She did this boldly and without a care in the world. Now I have to get a new debit card after seeing she had had my card in her personal phone for almost a month now.

We checked this place out about a year and a half ago, so we wanted to come back and leave an updated review. We arrived later on a Saturday night craving hibachi and sushi, and it definitely hit the spot.

I ordered the steak hibachi with fried rice, and my husband went with the lobster roll. My meal started with a cup of miso soup and if you follow our adventures you know I love miso. They did not disappoint. It was hot, flavorful, and tasted freshly made with good ingredients.

For a drink I ordered a Long Drink. We first tried these at a local festival and fell in love, so when we saw a citrus flavor we had never tried before we were excited to order it.

My hibachi came out hot and smelled amazing. The steak was cooked perfectly and the sauce mixed into the rice was really good. I do wish they gave just a little extra sauce for the rice. The rice itself was a bit stiff, but the sauce helped a lot. We also came about an hour before closing, so we were not too bothered by that.

Our waitress was good, and her coworker stepped in to help when she was busy, which we appreciated. I also liked that you can see the sushi chefs working right there, and my husband really enjoyed his roll.

The restaurant was very clean, including the bathrooms, which always matters. I also have to mention the water because it actually tasted good. If you know, you know how rare that can be. They also have plenty of parking, which makes things easy.

Overall we had a great experience and it was the perfect spot for a much needed date night.

Went here with my buddy Hantolope and it was amazing! He even ordered a sushi fish platter and..uh..sensational. Would 100% recommend. Hantolope loved it even more than I did LOL!

Arriving to arashi yama I was extremely hungry/hangry. Our waitress sat us down so fast and we ordered almost immediately. The food did not disappoint at all and we actually licked our plates clean. Please enjoy I RECOMMEND THE HARD ROCK ROLL. INSANEEEEEE. New fav spot ever they didn’t come to play for sure

Fabulous meal and service. This was our first dinner here and we can't wait to come back. The spicy tuna biscuit is a great appetizer. The soups are delicious. Finished off the meal with a perfect espresso martini.

I dont even know where to begin with this place!! I came here with my wife for our 10th anniversary after it getting recommended from my good friend. Wow! The food was incredible!!! The service is so great too. Our servers name was Josie and she was the sweetest young lady. I ordered the arashi roll and my wife got the chicken hibachi. The food came out quick. I will definitely be coming back and I will highly recommend to anyone curious.

I tried this place for the first time on my bday with a friend and honestly I will never return. Her and I hang out very infrequently so we normally hang out and chat for a while but order food, appetizers, and drinks continuously. About an hour and a half into us being there we noticed the bus boy, hostess, and owner kept coming by our table often to remove things.

The waiter was incredibly kind and brought out a ice cream bday treat for us, but we weren’t even halfway through eating it when the owner just came by and took it (we had sat our spoons down to drink and chat). A few minutes later someone comes by and just starts grabbing our waters which we were still drinking before even asking if we were done. About 10 minutes later the hostess comes over and asks us how much longer we will be even though we still had half our rather large drinks left. We explained we were still drinking (clearly) and she informed us we had been there for over the 1.5 hour table time limit and there were people waiting (we did not see a single person waiting). We sat for another few minutes and rushed to drink the rest of our drinks as we were both extremely uncomfortable.

Having worked in and managed a restaurant I could never imagine treating customers that way. An hour and a half is not a long time for a table to be sitting especially while celebrating something. If we had only ordered appetizers and non-alcoholic drinks then sure I could understand wanting to free up the table but we ordered 2 drinks each, an appetizer, 3 rolls and an entree, plus had dessert. If you would like an experience where you are rushed out and made to feel uncomfortable during a special occasion this would be the place. I am disappointed as my friend highly recommended this place and had been going for years but now neither of us will return again.
