About La Islita de la Piloto

La Islita de la Piloto is a casual Cuban-style seafood restaurant known for its signature dish, the Frito fish. The restaurant features a food truck style kitchen and a tented outdoor dining area, creating a relaxed and informal atmosphere. The menu is small but offers some noteworthy items, such as the fried whole snapper and a tomato and avocado salad, which received praise for their freshness and flavor. Customers particularly enjoy the pan con minuta, which is described as large and delicious. The food is made fresh at the time of order, contributing to a satisfying dining experience. However, the setting can pose some challenges; flies are common despite fans meant to keep them away, and the outdoor environment can make it difficult to fully enjoy the meal. Service may be slow at times, with some customers experiencing long wait times and delayed food. Prices for some items, like ceviche and pargo, are considered quite expensive. Despite these issues, many find the atmosphere welcoming and the staff friendly and helpful. Overall, La Islita de la Piloto is appreciated for its tasty, fresh seafood and authentic Cuban vibe, making it a good choice for a quick, casual meal, especially for those looking to try the local specialties.

I visited this Cuban style seafood restaurant to try their popular dish, the Frito fish (fried fish in Spanish). The restaurant has a unique setup with a food truck style kitchen and a tented outdoor dining area, creating a very casual atmosphere. The menu is small, but the Frito fish is clearly their specialty. I ordered it, and the fish was fresh, crispy, and delicious. The biggest downside was the flies while we were eating. They do have fans set up to help keep customers cool...read full review
