COTOA Restaurant is an authentic Ecuadorian experience with modern flair, recognized by the Michelin Guide. The restaurant feels intimate and laid-back yet elevated, with Ecuador present in the ingredients, the flavors, and the overall essence of the space. The food is outstanding, phenomenal, and full of flavor, with beautiful presentation. Standout dishes include the pan de yuca, described as a super VIP starter, the ceviche manabita manicero which is an absolute must, and the best chicken empanadas. The hanger steak is seasoned just right and very tender, served with super crunchy papa chaucha potatoes. The rum cake and a complimentary banana ice cream palate cleanser are fantastic finishes.
Service is top-notch, attentive, and detail-oriented, with staff described as incredibly kind. The ambiance is noted as part of the exceptional experience. A reservation is needed and is a must. The main downside is an extremely long wait for food, with meals taking over an hour after seating. Additionally, due to the open kitchen, a smoky, oily smell can linger on clothes. Despite this, COTOA is considered one of the best meals in Miami, a standout destination, and a must-go list restaurant for its authentic cuisine, exceptional service, and memorable dining experience.
