“UPFRONT:
I really wanted this place to be a solid five-star experience. Honestly, it was close to being a three-star ⭐️⭐️⭐️ because of one thing—the coffee!

I’ve been wanting to visit for over two years, but I only come through this area occasionally. Every time I’ve tried before, it’s been closed—even just a few weeks ago when it was supposed to be open, with no sign on the door explaining why.

Inside, the space is small, and I imagine it gets crowded at lunch. My wife had to sit right up against the coffee-serving table. The décor was what you’d expect—simple but nice—and the place looked very clean.

It has that true backroad, mom-and-pop restaurant vibe I love. Good service, good company, good food—that’s what I was hoping for. And honestly, it almost hit the mark.

The food? No question—it was good. The cheapest breakfast on the menu was $8.99, which surprised me a bit. That was basically two eggs, grits, and toast. For comparison, Waffle House has a similar breakfast for about $7. My wife and I both ordered the two-egg breakfast with bacon for $10 each, plus Coffee.

Here’s where things went downhill: the coffee. It came out in possibly the smallest cups I’ve ever seen—like a New York bistro demitasse. That didn’t bother me as much as what was inside. Honestly, it was the WORST COFFEE I’ve had in 70 years.
I don’t know where they’re getting it, but it tasted cheap and bitter. That first sip dropped my five-star hopes straight down to two stars. (Small not, only Pink sweetner).

I didn’t complain—the waitress was nice—so I decided to see how the food was. When the plates came out, they looked great, and they didn’t disappoint. Everything tasted very good. That brought my rating back up to about 3½ stars.

The final boost came when I went to pay. The bill was $21 total—less than $10 each with tax—because coffee was included with breakfast. The waitress just noticed we didn’t want any refills, which was fine by me since my wife barely touched hers.

So, please don’t let my rating scare you away. This little spot still checks the boxes for a true backroad, homestyle restaurant. The food was excellent, the staff was good (maybe not as chatty as some local places, but pleasant), and the prices are fair for what you get.

The lunch menu varies daily, and from what I saw on the wall, sandwiches and burgers run about $13 (likely without drinks).
So.. A SOLID 4 STARS ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
and 5 if I hear they changed their coffee.
Important note:
*This is a CASH-ONLY establishment with NO ATM on site.
I say it us worth a stop if you find them open...!
*Bathrooms are 'Out Back' in building, accessible from outside behind building. They were clean.“

“Outstanding food and I especially love their coffees! I am a regular and go as often as I can. I just finished a breakfast taco and hubby has the breakfast biscuit with bacon, egg and cheese and it's delicious! The Smoked Tuna dip is what's for lunch later today! Hans and his staff do an amazing job!“
