I got the 1/2 chicken dinner with baked beans and collard greens and it was so good it was like home cooking. That's the first time I've ever ate there and they do a fantastic job couldn't ask for better. The price is great also. I got to try the ribs next time but I'm sure they're just a fantastic.

The website needs attention. There are buttons that don't work, it is awkward and not user or mobile device friendly. It poses a security risk for the user as it does not support HTTPS.
I don't think Big John would be too happy with how things have been going the last few years. Most of the older gentleman who ran the pit are rarely seen and the younger guys seem to cook things at higher temps and quicker with more grease fires. The meat always had this great smokey taste, but now that is often accompanied by the taste of burned meat like when subjected to a fire. The outside of the ribs is often hard and fibrous and extremely chewy from this cooking too fast and too high a temperature. Same kinds of bits in the pork from the outside being burnt.
Big John was one of the nicest people I ever met. Most of the people who work there are nice, but the bbq has been declining in quality. When done how it used to be, a little more time, a little more care, a bit lower temperature - there is nothing as good Big John's.

The moment you walk in you can smell the smokey aroma of oak wood and hear the sound of beef and chicken being chopped behind the counter! The meats are amazingly delicious and seasoned very well, meats are pork & beef, chicken, sausage, ribs and burnt ends or thin ends as they have them listed on the menu. The sides are also delicious 😋 as they include traditional sides such as coleslaw, baked beans, collard greens,corn on the cob, both macaroni and potatoe salads. There's family meal specials for big crowds and also whole entrees such as whole slab ribs, whole chicken and beef by the pound! Desserts such as cakes and pies are available too by the slice or whole. What amazed me were the portion sizes, enough for the largest appetites and they even have a kids menu! We will definitely be returning ASAP!! Great Job Big John's, you knocked it out the park today!!

We got our food to go. I had a chicken plate with green beans and potato salad. The only I could almost tolerate were the green beans. The chicken I spit out immediately. Worst tasting chicken I've ever had. The potato salad taste like straight mayonnaise. It was awful. My husband had a sausage meal with baked beans and potato salad. He said the sausage taste like it was boiled first. The baked beans came straight out of a can. He couldn't eat the potato salad either. This was our first time eating here. We will not be back.
