About Hindu Temple Of Florida Canteen

The Hindu Temple of Florida Canteen offers a variety of Indian dishes, with the dosa being a standout option - crispy and full of flavor, served with delicious chutney and sambar. Located within a Hindu temple, the canteen follows traditional customs, such as requiring longer skirts and barefoot areas. While the food is the highlight, particularly the tamarind rice, some items can be over-spiced for certain tastes. The ordering process can feel impersonal, with a preference for credit card payments and the use of an ordering device.

Recently, customers have praised the dosa and sambar as particularly good. The canteen is described as a peaceful place where many visitors enjoy the temple atmosphere. After praying, delicious Prasadham is available, and there is a bigger selection of items on weekends. Management is appreciated for providing fresh food and good vegetarian options, making a visit to the canteen a chance to experience authentic Indian cuisine in a serene setting. However, there are concerns about the medhu vada, which some feel does not taste traditional.

Customers have noted that the food is delicious and the staff is attentive, especially for those craving good South Indian breakfast. However, some have pointed out issues with the ordering process and the attitude of the staff, suggesting that improvements could be made in customer service. Despite these concerns, many enjoy the food and return frequently, appreciating the budget-friendly menu and the overall experience.

The best channa masala I've had in a while. The dosa was also fantastic. Although I might not order cheese in it again, I thought it would be paneer but it was shredded cheddar or something, which was definitely better than it sounds here, but paneer would better.

Great place to have a byte but a little hot. Dosas are huge! Chai is very good. The temple is amazing. Service is a little slow but people are super nice. Overall a great experience.

The temple is very pleasant, and the canteen offers excellent South Indian cuisine. Considering the price, quality, and quantity, it is highly commendable. As it is a temple, one can always be assured of the quality, especially when compared to external restaurants. I would highly recommend it to all visitors to Tampa, particularly those who prefer vegetarian options.
