“Went here with my dad—we’re both Puerto Rican, born and raised. Despite some bad reviews, we were pleasantly surprised.

Alcapurria and Queso Frito were excellent. The stuffed mofongo was one of the best I’ve had in Tampa, while the arroz con gandules tasted reheated. Prices felt a bit high for a casual Puerto Rican spot in Brandon.

Pros: Great appetizers, excellent mofongo, friendly service
Cons: Rice quality, slightly pricey

Overall, a solid meal. I wouldn’t go out of my way, but I’d return if I’m nearby. Grade: B+“

“Tuve la oportunidad de comer en El Pilón Criollo en Devon, Florida, y honestamente la experiencia fue excelente de principio a fin. La comida estaba riquísima, llena de sabor y con ese toque casero Cada plato estuvo delicioso y se notaba la calidad de los ingredientes. Además, los precios son perfectos, muy razonables para la calidad y la cantidad de comida que sirven. Definitivamente vale cada centavo. Lo que más me gustó, aparte de la comida, fue el trato de los dueños. Me atendieron de una manera muy especial, fueron súper amables, atentos y conversadores. Se nota que son personas humildes. Sin duda recomiendo este food truck al 100%. Si están por Davon, Florida, tienen que pasar por El Pilón Criollo. ¡Volveré pronto!“

“The food here is really great all the time but the only thing that is very awkward and I don’t go to often now is because the little short Spanish lady that looks Mexican that works there- I think she drives a red car- she always has an attitude and never smiles and always looks like you are bothering her when you go try to order your food other than that this place rocks.“
