I did not expect to find authentic Mexican food in Athens. I am from SoCal where there are a million places to get authentic Mexican from restaurants to food trucks. I've had Mexican food from some of the restaurants in and around the Atlanta area. None of them have come close. My sister in law is Mexican and her salsa is very similar to what they serve here. So for those of you who complain it is "runny", you obviously don't know that there are different ways to make salsa and this is one of the authentic ways. The chips are fresh and crispy. We will be back.

I rarely leave reviews. Could not eat the Carne Asada; worst steak at a Mexican restaurant I have ever had. The tacos al pastor were extremely dry. Plastic cups for salsa, plastic utensils....seriously poor food. People were really nice, but there are too many good Mexican places around town to waste money on El Zarco.

Amazing Mexican food! The guacamole was freshly made with huge chunks of avocado and paired perfectly with the tortilla chips. I have to give a shout out to the chips because they were flat out wonderfully crisp, thicker than usual chips, and probably homemade. We were almost full just from eating the chips with salsa and guac.
Great Mexican restaurant in Athens, a hop and skip away from downtown, worth the walk to it. Good service and setting. Absolutely amazing tacos al pastor. Highly recommend, will be back soon. Highly recommend, this is authentic Mexican food and you really can't beat the pricing.

Must have gone downhill since the other, very good, reviews were written. I like this type of food and I thought their tacos and salsa were really lackluster. Try Taqueria Juaritos, Auga Linda or Tlalock.

Quick and nice service. The three meat torta was meat-filled and a large portion. The fries that came with it has a lime salt seasoning on it. At the end of the meal, owner gave us complimentary churros. Would definitely come back.
