“Havana Sandwich Shop is a family-owned Atlanta food institution that was the first to bring a full Cuban menu to Atlanta in 1976. Its ability to survive an ever-changing Atlanta food scene and a devastating fire in 2008 is a testament to its commitment to quality, consistency, and affordability. Havana is especially known for its Cuban Sandwich and Empanadas. The restaurant is simple and unassuming. They have recently added a covered patio for outdoor seating. My meal came out within an appropriate timeframe and I was provided with great and friendly service. During my most recent visit, I ordered a Yuca con Mojo, Chicken and Cheese Empanada, Roja Vieja, Flan and Café con Leche. I visit Havana regularly for their café con leche. They serve Café Bustelo and it is my go to when I need a midday caffeine boost. I have enjoyed many variations of Havana’s meat and cheese empanadas and they are always crispy, airy, and packed with flavor. The yuca con mojo had a nice hint of garlic and the sauteed onions added a nice subtle flavor. It was especially tasty mixing with the jus from the Ropa Vieja. The Ropa Vieja is very comforting with just the right amount of seasoning. Havana’s plates all include rice and black bean soup. The rice was well prepared and the beans have the right touch of seasoning to allow the onion flavor to come through. The Flan is light and pillowy with just the right amount of sweetness. I have never had a bad bite at Havana’s and look forward to trying out the rest of the menu.“

“My husband had the Cuban sandwich and I tried the chicken empanadas and the Cuban eggs. The food was amazing and even though this place is in a food court, the food is fresh and there is a little wait time. The Beni’s sauce is also worth the visit!
Vegetarian options: They offer veggie empanadas“

“The best of everything! Delicate and delicious food (their Norwegian salmon rivals the Alaskan salmon I have shipped in!), superior staff, delightful decor, and the best family-operated business around!“

“Nestled in a charming corner of town, this Cuban restaurant is a delightful gem that captures both the heart and the palate. From the moment you step inside, the quaint atmosphere envelops you—warm lighting, rustic decor, and soft Latin music create a cozy ambiance perfect for any occasion.
The food, however, steals the show. The empanadas are golden pockets of heaven, generously stuffed and paired with a zesty dipping sauce. And let’s not forget the Cuban sandwich: layers of roasted pork, ham, Swiss cheese, pickles, and mustard, all pressed to crispy, melty perfection.
The service is equally delightful, with a staff that makes you feel like family. Whether you’re a seasoned fan of Cuban cuisine or trying it for the first time, this restaurant offers not just a meal but an experience. It’s the kind of place you’ll return to, not just for the food but for the warm, welcoming vibe that stays with you long after you leave.“

“Sweet owner really went out of her way to get us the Cuban food we wanted! I’m Cuban and I can tell you it’s really hard to find good Cuban food outside of Cuba or Miami. They really delivered! Highly recommend and will definitely come back!“

“Really enjoyed the chicken burrito served with rice and beans. Would also recommend the cuban sandwich. Portions are quite generous and staff are so friendly. Would skip out on the plantains as those were hard and quite dry (though the sauce that came with it was delicious!)“

“This is one time I was sooooo hungry I didn't take a photo of my food. I ordered the Paella del Mar. It was so flavorful and had all the seafood in it. There was calamari, shrimp, salmon, scallops, and mussels. I've been to the other location as well, but I definitely like this one better. Will be back, especially to take pictures of the food!!!“

“This is my favorite of the series of La Fonda restaurants in the Atlanta area. I just dig the location in the neighborhood that it's at.
No matter which location you go to the salsa is top notch. The food is really tasty. The margaritas are really good. The service is on point.
Stop reading and go there!“

“I recently visited La Fonda, and let me tell you, the food was amazing! The guacamole was so fresh and flavorful, absolutely delicious. The carne asada was everything I hoped for—perfectly cooked, tender, and seasoned just right. I also tried the burrito, and it was fantastic, packed with flavor and really hit the spot.
Overall, it was an all-around great experience with good food and good vibes. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a place to enjoy a delicious meal and have a great time!“

“Nice small bakery, good customer service, the empanadas were delicious 😋 I just wished the place had at least one table with chairs so I could eat with my family there, the do have 2 little round tables with no chairs at all. The decoration in the place is very plain.“
