“Waffle House is our go to place for breakfast whenever we travel the southern corridor. This trip it was this location that impressed us. We were reluctant to stop because it was Sunday mid-morning and there were lots of vehicles outside, but as we drove into the parking lot, three were just leaving. While the place was crowded, we were able to be seated at the end of the counter with a view of the "cooking operations."As an efficiency nut (Waffle House is one of the most efficient operations out there!), I was delighted to watch this crew work. In most Waffle Houses wait staff call out the order to the cook. At this place, because there were so many waiters, they used a "caller." Wait staff placed their order slips in sequence in front of the caller. One by one, he'd call the order to the cook--clear, loudly, and concisely--and set up the plates (with "code" arrangement of condiments, WH's unique language). It worked like a manufacturing production line!After our waitress (Mary) took our order, she make sure the caller knew my order of "over light" eggs was to my specifications ("runny yellow, very soft white, no brown!"). And the cook got it perfect! And the waffle was done to perfection as well. Light, fluffy, hot, tasty.This Waffle House location is on my list of "must stop" establishments the next time I'm out that way. Great job, Team and Management!“
“I'm 63 years old, and I've eaten at a lot of waffle houses through the years. But I must say by far, this is the best tasting waffle house food I have ever had. I don't care what you say. Now I feel bad for not tipping. I always, always, always tip servers. This was the first time I didn't. But when the young man told me there was no military discount for to go orders, I discreetly became disappointed with this location being right at Fort Gordon's Gate. But when I got home and devoured the feast, I felt like an a#$%ho$le. My impatience in not trying the product before becoming disappointed. This waffle house location rocks. I will definitely try to correct my dumb mistake in not tipping during my next visit. Management has this team real winners. 4/20/2024 11:15 am. Please forgive me.“
