We have been driving a 60 mile round-trip just to eat there for many years. Our first disappointment is that they now close at 4 o’clock on some days. Our schedule only permits that we are free to go there mostly on Thursdays. However we are not able to Make the trip by 4 o’clock. They are open until seven for takeout. We go about once a week for dinner. Tonight I had the Seafood Platter - it was huge and delicious! Everything was lightly battered, crisp, and not greasy (catfish and fried shrimp). I have enough left for 2 lunches. We also brought home a piece of Rachel’s sweet potato cake to share. Oh, my. It was wonderful!! The restaurant was full but every single staff member was welcoming and friendly. We love going there!
If you want home cooked food and a friendly staff, this is the place for you. The fried chicken is the best.

Sweet Pea Kitchen offers an All American Family atmosphere with good southern food and is considered a rare gem. The comforting, throw back setting is reminiscent of a friendly show. The food is always good, healthy, delicious, and made the professional way to perfection. Specific meals like the whole catfish with onion rings and slaw, BBQ, pork chop, Mac n cheese, greens, and a biscuit are all noted. It is the best soul food. The customer service is awesome, kind, and caring, meaning something special. It is an amazing deal with great new specials and appealing rescue prices. Many find it definitely worth the drive.
