Based on the reviews, Mesquite Mexican Grill is a pleasant jewel in downtown Monticello. The food is always great and comes out very quickly, with well-sized portions. The chicken soup, Texas Fajita quesadilla, pollo mesquite, and three-way fajita platter for two are all delicious. The grilled shrimp is better than most fish restaurants. The Margaritas on the rocks is on point, and the mesquite margaritas are strong, but not overly. The salsa is a tomato based salsa. The customer service is fantastic, the staff is friendly, and the restaurant is extremely clean. Some reviewers drive past other Mexican restaurants to get here, noting it is well worth the drive. While the prices are a bit high, with an $18 margarita noted as extreme, the food and service make it a place to return to as a regular.
