“Having just moved to the Statham/Winder area, we thought there wouldn’t be a lot of places we could frequent for dining out. I was hesitant to try Chen’s family because nobody was there and the building itself is rather unassuming. I have to say though, I’m glad I did. There’s not much to the dining area even though it is really clean. They were very friendly and served my food promptly with a smile. The reason it was empty was because most of their business (at least on a Sunday night) was take out. Even though they had a ton of orders and several pick ups, I still had great service!
The food was very reasonably priced and probably one of the top 3 best tasting Chinese I’ve had. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars was because it was a bit warm in the dining room for an optimal experience. If you’re passing through the area it’s just a short detour off the beaten path. We will definitely make this a new favorite!“

“We enjoy the Winder location for dinner and Sunday brunch and decided to try the Monroe location. We were looking forward to a nice evening out, but due to the service we won't be back to Monroe. The food was good, when we finally received it. We had a reservation and once we were seated, we waited 20 minutes for our server to come and greet us and ask for our drink order. No one came over until I went to the front counter to ask who our server was. The food arrived an hour after being seated. The atmosphere was loud and crowded. I much prefer the Winder location and we will only be going back there in the future.“

“Food is always very good here and the quality is consistent. We ordered take out and they forgot to include our Lemon Chicken. We didn't notice until we got home, so we called to let them know. They apologized and offered to deliver it to us. When our delivery arrived they gave us free Rangoon's.

“Friends is always my go to place to chill with friends and get some great wings! Everyone is so friendly and the bartenders actually take the time to get to know the customers. The kitchen and the servers always seem to be on top of it, even at the busiest times. I also appreciate that the bar and family dining areas are separate. Shout out to Tony's hot wing! We’re no strangers to good food—we’re certified foodies—and this meal easily cracked the top 10 meals of our lives. We started with the pimento cheese and gnocchi to share, and both were downright insane in the best way. Creamy, rich, balanced—like Southern comfort and fine dining had a baby. For entrées, we ordered the shrimp & grits and the Campanella with beef ragout… and then proceeded to eat off each other’s plates all night because we genuinely couldn’t decide which one we liked better. The shrimp & grits were smoky, buttery perfection, and the ragout was slow-cooked, soul-warming magic. Dessert? Blueberry cobbler and chocolate bread pudding. We were already full, but we pushed through like champions. Both were ridiculously good—the kind of good that makes you consider licking the plate. And major shoutout to Bree, our server—she was absolutely wonderful. Friendly, attentive, and spot-on with every recommendation. She made the experience even better. “We ate here during a weekend visit to UGA. It was by far the best meal we had the entire visit. The atmosphere was great, the waitress and staff were excellent, and the food was soooo good! The croissants were melt-in-your-mouth flaky goodness. I would come here everyday just for those! Filets, salmon, mashed potatoes and even the Caesar salad was all amazing. I had two fish-bowl margaritas, and omg they were so tasty, and were only $7 each. And this wasn’t during happy hour. If I had known the margaritas were only $7 when I ordered them, I would have a had a few more! Don’t pass this place up. Best place to eat and have a few drinks while in Athens. We will definitely be making this place our go to restaurant whenever visiting Athens!!“

Vegetarian options: There are several vegetarian options I usually get a vegetarian H which is a mushroom quesidilla with rice and beans so there are at least 8 vegetarian options.

Kid-friendliness: No problem with kids. I've brought mine since they were in highchairs and they are now in highschool.“

“My grandson wanted chinese food, I didn't know the area and we had decided to get chick fil a but then saw China Star behind the chick fil a and decided to give it a try . The food was hot and fresh, and delicious. I did not order anything from the hibachi or sushi so not sure how those items are but what I did try was very good. My grandson loved it and ate 3 plates full. Fresh fruit was good as well.“
