“I had a great experience at this Korean BBQ restaurant! I ordered the Galbitang (beef short rib soup) and it was really delicious — full of flavor and tender meat. The food came out fresh and hot, and the service was friendly and welcoming. The place has a nice atmosphere too. Definitely recommend coming here if you want authentic Korean food and a pleasant dining experience”

“I ordered lemon Pepper bone in wings and honey barbecue boneless wings. The bone in are a good size and tastes good. The boneless, not so much. They were not good. The meat was tough and the sauce didn't taste good at all.”

Even their fries were pretty bomb!If you haven’t already, give them a shot!My order was a 30 piece wings and family sized fries. I got 12 wings tossed in honey hot and the rest in extra hot. Sauces were great, just wish the extra hot was a little spicier.”

“This location is tucked away but, in my opinion, offers way better customer service than the one in Valley. They didn't have entitled attitudes and didn't push tipping on us. The store was clean, and food actually looked fresh. Ladies had very upbeat positive attitudes.”

The chicken tenders were really delicious to be sold in a gas station, and I do recommend for a quick snack. Be mindful the prices are a bit high.”

At other places the sides are ok representations of what they're supposed to be, but that's not the case at Merl's. The mac and cheese and onion rings were great! The hush puppies were fantastic! But the star was the catfish. It was out of this world. You'll be hard pressed to find better.”

“I don't even like Chinese food y'all, it's my boyfriend's favorite and so I decided to give him a special treat on our travels. We stopped here and I fully expected to not enjoy it BUT this was the best Chinese food I've ever had. I 100% enjoyed every bite. The spring rolls were perfect, the sweet &sour chicken was banging!! The service was great and fast. The fortune cookie was an actual fortune and not some lame cliche. The best part was at the end, I fully expected to pay $50 for such exceptional food and service but instead the total was less than $30!!! If you just happen to be driving by this area - stop here for lunch or dinner!!!

PS and we got a wall scroll as a free gift!!!

Edit - today is 08/19/25 and we drove all the way back to Alabama from Roanoke VA just to have dinner at this restaurant. It was still just as amazing as we remembered it from this past December. And still less than $30 including the 22% tip. I will absolutely be back again!!”

I visited shortly after 5pm on Monday and requested a recommendation for wings, to which I was directed towards an employee’s favorite: BBQ w/ lemon pepper seasoning. I was not disappointed.

The food was ready in less than 5 minutes and a perfectly hot temperature. While the wings weren’t the biggest I’ve seen, they were full of flavor. The fries were unsalted, allowing me the freedom to season them to my liking.

Ain’t too many places where you can get a meal under $10 and get full from it. This place knows wassup.”
