“I've been wanting to try the soufflé pancake with boba and I was finally able to!This came with 3 stacks of the soufflé pancake drizzled in brown sugar, a type of cream, and boba! The pancake is so fluffy, it tasted great with all the sauces and boba. Because everything else is so sweet, I liked how the soufflé pancake wasn't as sweet. I could taste the different sauces and pancakes, and how it complimented each other. I shared this and left feeling full! The soufflé does taste a bit strong in egg, but makes sense as that's how it becomes a soufflé.“
“This small restaurant has free parking, on the Ewa side of the building. Since there is limited parking stalls, I phone in my order and try to pick up my take out before dinner rush. Usually there's only one waitress and she is friendly and provides a homey feel to this cozy place. Chinese New Year's Day is their busiest day of the year. This year there was one young man, helping with take out orders and it took 1.5 hrs to fulfill order. The Shanghainese culture is not very well represented in Hawaii. This is the closest I can get to chao niangao (炒年糕 'fried year cake'). These non-glutinous, rice, flour cakes are cut into medallions and stir-fried with chicken and vegetables. Note, this restaurant is not Shanghainese but an overall representation of Eastern and Taiwanese dished. This place reminds me of home cooking but often times I feel Popo's one tasted better but I'm comparing their food to a childhood memory, which is not fair.“
“Food is really tasty. I had the retro spicy noodles, the spicy dumplings, the spicy chicken wings and the popcorn chicken. All the flavors when it says spicy is pretty spicy. It's an instant numbing of the mouth. I loved it all. The flavors, the saltiness everything is well balanced. The service is nice. There was one server. She's friendly and kind and the chef comes out to speak to customers when there aren't orders placed to ask how you're doing. The ambiance is decent. There are 5 tables I believe. You must come early or off peak hours. The wait list is fast (20 min wait) but it depends on the people inside how slow or fast they are to eat. Some people like to talk a lot but if you see people waiting to eat, please eat faster. lol. The business makes profit from a faster eaters. It was all delicious and I will return.“
“We were just randomly looking for dinner and googling around for Mexican places and found Tapas Kitchen. The food truck is located in a quiet small street with a few small tables on the side walk. The two of us ordered the birria taco, short rib plate, and acai smoothies. The food was delicious I like my short rib plate and like how the rice was flavored.Smoothie was good not too sweet with a little ice doggy on top of the drink it was so cute . The older lady who took our order and prepped the food was super nice. Not too many days left in Hawaii but would definitely go back to try more items on the menu if we get a chance to!“
“Good little place to pick up some food and a boba. I got just a simple order of paste noodles and they were delicious. I will be going back because it's close to home... but I think a lot of people may miss it passing by. It's right on School Street near Houghtailing. Don't pass it up.“
“I ate here 4 days in a row during a 6 day stay in Waikiki. The noodles in the beef noodle soup reminded me of my Taiwanese grandma's homemade noodles, somehow both chewy and not too heavy. Broth was light and 'clean' tasting, with the option to add your own chili oil to add a bit of spice. Beef noodle soup is $15 between 11am-2pm, which is a good deal for the generally expensive Waikiki area. I also had the sesame noodles ($13), which was a yummy & easy takeaway dish (although recommended to eat right away when noodles are bouncy and chewy). Gyoza was also very good! There was also no line and we were served immediately every time we went. Highly recommend for a quick & casual lunch in the Waikiki area.“
“Fooki is an amazing spot as a solo diner, date night spot, or with a group of friends you want to catch up with. I ordered the Seafood Laksa, which was very flavorful and if you end up saving the leftover curry coconut creamy broth, would be ideal for layering on top of any appetizer. The Shrimp Paste Noodle Soup could've been improved upon as the broth wasn't too memorable, however the hand made shrimp paste was fairly unique. If you have a group bigger than two, would recommend making reservations to play it safe!“
