Nice little family restaurant. Usually busy so plan ahead. Service is a little slow due to lack of employees. Food was very good. Poke bowl was very fresh and delicious. Tried the sunomono which was very nice.
Charming spot with delicious food in a great atmosphere for a reasonable price! Sushi was fresh and tasty, and the soft shell crab was delicious. Warning though: $8 cucumber salad in the appetizer/salad section is quite small and wasn’t enough with the soft shell to make a meal. By contrast, the salad in the “make it a meal” rice/salad/miso option for $15 was four times the size! So I’d do that on a return.
Maybe this is a Japanese grandma’s cafe, but I ordered the avocado poke bowl and a starter. The starter was okay, but the poke bowl was really good and super refreshing. The rice tasted fresh, unlike some of the other places I’ve tried where the rice seemed old or dry. Service was fast with no wait time at all. Highly recommend stopping by if you’re in Hanapepe Town, known as the “biggest little town” on Kauai.
