We were looking for a local pub that felt a little more mainland while we visited the Big Island and enjoyed the local stores and Waipio Valley. This was it. Found it on our first visit to the big island two years ago, and we come back each year when we visit. The food and atmosphere is that good. Upbeat country music playing in a rustic renovated historic bank building. Big windows, cool and comfortable, relaxed dining in Honoka'a. Tried the pastrami dog - salty yummy goodness with sauerkraut added. The half pound monster was super satisfying and delicious. Kettle chips were crisp, and I hadn't had a Paradise Cider before, so that was a real treat. "Guava Lava" cider offered a sweet counterpoint to the salty food. Stopped in here after reading another review on our way around the island and it is definitely worth the stop if your in the area. I have never had a pastrami sandwich that good and the chili was amazing, both of which were their special dishes. Super fresh and delicious. The owner even came over and talked with us about how they make the pastrami themselves. Great atmosphere, great people, great local island pub. 10/10.
