Akira Japanese Restaurant is a cozy spot that offers delicious Japanese food, perfect for take-out. Their customer favorites include bentos, butterfish, chicken karaage, and tempura. The Teishoku lunch sets come with appetizer, salad, pickles, rice, and Udon or Miso soup, served in a comforting atmosphere. The omakase sushi is a highlight, with a perfect fish to rice ratio. Prices are reasonable, and the service is outstanding, making it a welcoming spot. The atmosphere is cute and clean with friendly staff. It seems there's not a wrong thing to order at Akira. The chef in the kitchen is a wizard! Enjoyed lunch with friends in this very clean restaurant bathed in soft natural light through its wall of windows. Friend A ordered the Akira Nori Bowl, filled with salmon, butterfish, fried chicken, unagi, tamagoyaki, and fried shrimp. Each chunk was a delicious gem. Friend B ordered teishoku set with miso butterfish and assorted tempura. Friend C ordered teishoku set with assorted tempura and deep fried soft shell crab coated with bubu arare. Friend D ordered teishoku set with miso butterfish and chicken nanban. I ordered same dishes as Friend D. All teishoku sets came with appetizer, salad, pickles, rice, and mini udon or miso soup! The silky grilled miso butterfish was one of the best. Chicken nanban is a winner. The soft shell crab was completely coated with tiny pellets of rice crackers, then deep fried. Lots of fun to look at and eat! Everyone at our table LOVED their meals. I will bring my family next time! Service was excellent, too. Ordered Ika Mentaiko Hosomaki, Shortrib Uni, Ankimo Ponzu, Akira Salad, Daikon and Tendon, Eggplant Agedashi, Yuzu Kosho Chicken, Hamachi Kama, Soft Shell Crab with Bubu Arare, and Tempura. The fish to veg ratio was off on the Unagi Cuc and Salmon Avo Rolls. Parking can be a bit tricky.
