Very impressed by the dumplings in this unfussy and spacious dimsum restaurant. Xiao Long Bao was made fresh to order, and the barbecue pork buns (the white ones) were the best I've ever had. Also the red bean sesame balls were the largest I've ever seen, with excellent dough. We went right around when it opened and had no trouble getting a table for 3. Prices were shockingly reasonable as well - we ordered xiao long bao, har gow, siu mai, sesame balls, and baked barbecue pork buns and the total was around $30

Went here for dim sum and the food was good for the most part, but we didn't really know what we were eating because they just started handing us a bunch of food as soon as we sat down before we could even look at the menu. We had to tell them repeatedly to stop or else we would've ended up with way too much food.We recognized most of the dishes, but we still have no clue what three of them were and one of the unknown dishes was not very good so we didn't even finish it

Visited Hawaii for the first time from Canada. Was recommended by hotel we were staying at. Being part Cantonese myself I love authentic food and not westernized Asian food. Their dim sum was so good that we went twice in the same week! It was the freshest and most tasty ones we’ve ever had. Their service is not the best, place is not very organized but just for the food I would recommend! Always a good sign when you see lots of locals vs the touristy areas.

One of my favorite places for dim sum. On the smaller side and only one cart comes around but there's a dim sum and full menu to order off of and staff is friendly and attentive.Update: many years later and still a go to for me if I'm craving Chinese food. Their regular menu is better than their dim sum, the minute chicken noodles are just plain addicting!

The food is great here. It is a bit of a hole in the wall. Street parking only. The food is fresh and served hot. I recommend this place for dim sum to everyone I know. The occasional serve from a cart when it is busy.

Looking for an open Dim Sum place in Chinatown on a Wednesday was a chore. The places I usually frequent are closed on Wednesday. I spotted Ginger and Garlic (strange name) and went in. It is on par with most other dim sum places in Chinatown. The staff were attentive ( we and another family were the only patrons) It had the standard dim sum fare at completive prices. It did not have the cheap water chestnut fillers other places put in their dim sum which is a plus. I will be back if I am in the area.

There were bugs in our water. The dim sum was pretty good especially the dumpling with broth inside. We ordered a steamed fish. The lady said it was 35$. She asked us how big you want the fish. I said I don’t know 1 lb? She said they don’t have. Only 2 lbs. I said ok. That ended up being 75$ for a mediocre slimy steamed fish. The dishes were dirty. I would not go back.

Food was amazing but no one asked if we wanted drinks then when I asked the lady for a beer she said they don’t serve alcohol but I saw 2 tables with beer and hard liquor. There was a table I believe the owners friend getting very intoxicated. I had to use the bathroom and one of the men used it before me and stumbled out when I went in the whole toilet was covered in urine the guy was so drunk he peed everywhere. The waiter didn’t check on us once and I assumed he would considering how much we spent. We ordered a whole lobster and clams but not asked how it was or offered a drink. They were completely occupied by the drunk table. I assume they don’t have a liquor license but they were drinking and being very loud. I don’t think we’ll be back just for that reason.

Had a 7 or 9 course family dinner here. Great food. Don't know about price since it was someone else's treat but menu looked reasonably priced.
