I love the vibe of this place the 2 separate seating rooms is very helpful. there’s a good amount of seating inside but it can get VERY busy very fast. Despite the busyness the service is always super friendly and pretty fast. You can also buy their house syrups among other things. I love the very unique drinks and the banana bread is literally one of the best I’ve ever had.
Having been a longtime fan of Pono Potions and buying their flavor syrups for my home lattes for what feels like forever, I was super excited to finally stop by Poʻai in Chinatown to try their specialty drinks in person.

I don’t normally drink coffee but I tried someone’s Aloha Tower and holy moly now I wanna try everything on their menu. Maybe I’ll start with the matcha section first as I do drink green tea.
I also like how their drinks are sweetened to the right level.
Also, for a craft local coffee shop, the prices are reasonable id say. This makes customers wanna keep coming back as regulars.
Don’t throw your money away on Starbucks. Come here instead.

Po'ai by Pono Potions is a charming coffee shop situated in Chinatown, offering a peaceful environment ideal for studying or relaxing. Customers also enjoy the tasty banana bread, baked in-house, and the shop's local products. Po'ai also hosts community events like lei making workshops and drag brunches, making it a popular spot in Chinatown. The banana bread is perfectly moist, not too sweet, and you can actually taste the fresh banana in every bite. The lime coconut matcha is a dreamy combo of creamy coconut and smooth matcha, refreshing without being too sugary. The Pauahi Latte with oatmilk was amazing, with good flavor and amazing quality ingredients. Po'ai serves unique matchas, like one with macadamia nut and coconut cold foam, and others with pineapple lilikoi cold foam. The syrups are made in house. It offers options for quick takeaway or seating in their expanded space. The shop's cleanliness and authenticity add to its welcoming atmosphere.
