Best cake noodles I have ever had. Reminds me of my favorite place in Hilo that I thought could not be matched.

I was looking for "good cake noodle place" for Aunty's BD family party (food theme was Chinese) and on the Yelp, I typed "best cake noodle", then this place hit! Located at the Chinatown Cultural Plaza face to River St. This place is very cozy restaurant but the lady is very friendly and nice. We felt we were very welcomed. We did phone order, ~2 House Special Cake Noodles (gravy on side), 1 Sauted Garlic Ong Choy, and 1 Sauted Choy Dum- and we were told in 15-20minutes to ready. (The party size was small) House Special Cake Noodle has Choy Sum, Shrimp, fish cake, and sliced meat in a gravy, the noodles are fresh fried and after poor the gravy, the texture became soft and tasty. Sauted Garlic Ong Choy and Sauted Choy Sum were both good!!! I love this place and would like to try different menu next time! Anyway, we parked at the Chinatown Cultual Plaza parking, no validation but still cheeper than other parking. (In 30min is free 31min to 1 Hour is $1, after that $1 each additional per hour. If you just order for to go, I recommend to avoid exactly lunch time, it was easy to find the parking spot.

This food is amazing!!! I just returned from mainland China and this food tastes like some of the best there. The place is very modest. Seven tables only. Very friendly people!!! Husband is the chef and wife serves. We will come back a lot! Very authentic "hole in the wall " by the river and the outside of the Chinese Cultural Plaza, just past the big stone sculpture (see photos).

Food not so great. Service not very friendly. Have tried different places with better service and food. Wanted to see what all the hoopla was about. Not dying to go back. Next door Hong Kong Noodle House was better. Portion size could be better.Tasted better E-mein

I have never had cake noodles before, and I loved them. Noodles are pressed into little cakes, then fried crispy on one side. Then meat, sauce, and crunchy bok choy on top. The service was great. But this plqce is so small. Maybe seating for 16 people with no room to move. But worth trying out. There is a park very near, so you could get food to go and eat in the park.

Went for dim sum based on online reviews and the food did not disappoint. Very authentic Chinese dim sum restaurant ambiance with the covered chairs and the carts circling the restaurant.Verry friendly staff.

Fried rice is delicious. The milk tea had just the right amount of sweetness, but it had bugs in it.

My family's go-to for Chow Fun with fish cake balls! Have been ordering for our get-togethers for years, now $60 something for 1 pan of Chow Fun with fish cake balls. I also like theirs with the chicken!

The food is outstanding and the service is wonderful. We had boiled won ton appetizers which were out of this world. As was the fried rice!! We highly recommend this restaurant.

Best minute chicken cake noodle in Honolulu. You have to be patient with the service it's a small operation. They can only cook so fast. Also it gets a little crowded, since it's a tiny restaurant.

Rating 4.5 stars This place has been here for decades. Been here a bunch of times. One of our go-to places in the evening when dim sum isn't available and we are at the plaza for some Chinese cultural events like Chinese New Year or the Autumn Moon Festival. The hostess was very nice and courteous. Cantonese speaking but is fluent in English. The place looks removated from the last time I had been there. They painted the walls/ceiling, added crown molding, and a pretty tile backsplash to their sink area that wrapped around their register area. They are known for fish cake noodle soup. Their broth is beautifully clear and delicious. I opted for the minced chicken fried rice with shrimp paste to mix things up for a change. I was craving minced chicken with salted fish fried rice but this was their alternative. Shrimp paste is ham ha for the Chinese folks or bagoong for Filipinos. This fried rice had a hint of the shrimp paste smell to it, however, very minimal in taste. It has good wok hei. I think they were trying to be light on the shrimp paste being unsure how I was going to respond to it but I would have loved a bit more shrimp paste flavoring. Their average customer probably wouldn't appreciate that shrimp lpaste punch when they took a bite. Lol. My kids wanted cake noodles. So they each got a different one. They liked it. The cake noodles had a nice crunch to them. The topping to noodle ratio was good. Plating wise it could use some finesse but not really an expectation for a hole-in-the-wall mom-and-pop establishment like this. Would have looked a little less off to me if the plates were a little smaller. My usual here is the look fun soup with stewed beef. If in the area and looking for some Chinese food, give this place a try.

Food is amazing. What else can you expect from a mom and pop shop? Service and quality is paramount in a well run shop. I would recommend this store to anyone visiting.

FOOD This restaurant came up when googling BEST CAKE NOODLE. I ordered House Cake Noodle. They were able to add ginger/green onion and pack gravy separately for take out. Portion smaller than other restaurants. It was a winner at potluck. SERVICE Friendly AMBIANCE Located along river side of CCP. Small restaurant - 6 tables?? Clean and orderly. OVERALL I parked on Nu'uanu Ave and walked through loading dock area which took me directly to the restaurant. I would return.
