Mahina & Sun's is a relaxing restaurant with a rustic feel, offering a range of dishes from pizza to seafood. The venue features live Hawaiian-style music, creating a pleasant atmosphere, especially around the outside pool area. The service is generally excellent, with prompt and friendly staff showing genuine concern for customers' food allergies. The food is highly praised, with standout dishes like the naked pig pizza, whole fried fish, shrimp hush puppies, seared ahi, and avocado tacos. The family dinner with the deep fried whole fish is especially popular, noted for being fried so crispy that even the fins can be eaten. The crudo is also described as phenomenal, and the fried pickles have surprised some guests with how good they are. The banana pudding for dessert is celebrated for being refreshing without being overly sweet. The restaurant offers a variety of cocktails, including the escape and Chardonnay, which customers find to be standout. Many appreciate the fresh and soothing ambiance, describing the dining room as well done and the design as amazing. While the pool music can get loud during busy times, Mahina & Sun's remains a great place to dine, with a range of options to suit different tastes and preferences. Guests have enjoyed dishes like hand-cut pasta Bolognese and crab risotto, with particular attention to the care in preparation. It's highly recommended for fun with friends or family-style dining, making it a must-do for many visitors returning to Waikiki.
