Not sure what happened but last food I ordered from there was not even close with what it used to be.

Not really sure why this place is so popular. They have 3 teenage boys running the service for the whole restaurant on a Friday night, but only one of them is a server. We waited a good 20 minutes for a server to even acknowledge us while the other two boys looked bored. There were empty tables so it wasn't exactly super busy. When the server finally came, he seemed rushed. We order drinks, an appetizer, and dinner. At no time did the server ask us about spice levels or anything, which has been pretty common at EVERY other Thai restaurant I have ever been to. Well, 30 minutes late, our DRINKS, appetizer, AND dinner all came out at once. Again, it wasn't exactly busy and the three boys were seen standing around and talking. The food tasted okay, but it was SUPER mild and bland for Thai food. Panda Express is spicier than their curry and Pad Thai. This tastes like old haole lady Thai food.Well the check comes and this place uses every chance they can to add surcharges to everything. They add 3% kitchen surcharge which they call a "tax" on the bill... Which I don't believe is legal. They then add 3% if you pay with a credit card. They say you can avoid 3% if you pay with your "debit", but I don't know who is stupid enough to trust teenage boys with their pin number. It's not like they have a portable POS system to pay.The bar seemed full and the server seemed to spend extra time with the boomer regulars. Like every other place is Hawaii Kai, the food is a let down, the service is inexperienced, and the place seems to cater to the boomer regulars rather than attracting new customers.Avoid unless you like non-spicy retirement home Thai food.

These jokers literally told me "we're just putting in your order now, it will be ready in 20 minutes" thirty minutes after I placed it. Now after 20 passed, they said "5-10 more" and after that ten minutes told me "it's in the fryer now, 10 more minutes". Better you didn't lie to your customers if you ever want them to come back.

Cozy Thai restaurant located in a strip mall in Hawaii Kai. Great flavor on the dishes that we ordered. Big portions. Everything thing was Ala carte (including the rice). Recommend!

Some of the best tasting rhai food around. Prices are a little steep, but for the quality and service, it was worth it. Chicken wings were good and not overdone. The wonton soup with bacon flavor was awesome. And the glass noodle salad had a lot of flavor. Portions were great for the price also. There are not too many thai restaurants on this side of the island, so it's definitely worth going here if you're looking for good Thai food.

Good pad Thai! I asked for spicy and they delivered but they tried to kill me with spice! I finished my plate and they were surprised, literally the server said that the chef was surprised I finished my food. But I was crying on the inside, the flavor was great but it was hot! I kept my composer and finished it because I knew what was up lol. I would return for sure

We love this place! We eat here every week or two and have never been disappointed with food or service. Modern art adorns the walls that aren't already boasting large sunny windows. The friendly waiter brings us our "usual" beverages shortly after we are seated. Jaymie, manager and bartender comes by our table to say hello. My favorite food is Evil Princess; my husband's is the Seafood Combo.

The rudest service I have ever received in my life. I've been going there for years since it opened and I cannot believe what a lousy experience it was. The waiter was incredibly rude, and the manager just stood by and watched. When we pointed out our food was cold. The waiter said it's not cold. Then stuck his finger in the food and said it's still warm! When we pointed out, we were still waiting for a dish he said you didn't order it. There were no customers apart from ourselves a party of two at three other tables of two. Eight people altogether. He said the reason for the delay on the food was because the kitchen was slammed. At the end, after being treated so poorly he said, "Well, you're obviously not used to fine dining. Maybe you should go somewhere else?" And then sniggered and walked away. The people at the table next to us just looked at us in horror and shook their heads. We asked to speak to the manager, and she promptly disappeared into the kitchen at the back. We waited for her to come out, but she never showed. What a pity, this restaurant used to be one of our favorites. At this point have been so rudely spoken to and the manager refusing to do anything about it. I feel there are many other options in Hawaii Kai that I would be much happier going to. My friends got take away when we went over to their house the other evening and the food was not good. In the past we've had great take away and lovely service at the restaurant. Maybe somebody in upper management like Maile herself will read this and do something about her Hawaii Kai restaurant? Her staff is about to put her out of business!

Great early evening dinner at Maile's Thai Bistro in Hawaii Kai. Reservations possible online. My husband arrived at 5:30 so we were pleased to see that Maile's has restituted its Happy Hour. Daily from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Good variety of specials, both food and drink. We had the cold tofu smothered in a medium chili sauce, cilantro and fresh ginger. The fried calamari is excellent! Very crispy on the outside with delicate calamari on the inside. We moved from Happy Hour seamlessly into dinner. (BTW - There's a ton of takeout going on!) We had the Yellow Curry with shrimp and a bowl of jasmine rice for my husband and a bowl of brown rice for me. (Initially the rice portion looked small but they pack it in and I didn't finish all of my rice!) Per the advice of our friendly and efficient server, it's the mildest curry on the menu. Perfect for our first try of Maile's Curry. Very tasty and it's ordered often, as we could overhear the staff taking phone orders. Heads up, Maile's is charging 3% for credit card orders (no fee for debit cards) and a 3% kitchen staff charge. It's hard for small business to hire and keep staff as well as the costs of doing business. Some people find these added fees objectionable so I mention it. Maile is very transparent about it with notices posted at the host station and on every table. I didn't give them a 5 because the restaurant is quite small so if you come during happy hour you may have to expect some loud customers at the bar.

Hanging out in the area, we decided to stop into Maile's Thai Bistro for lunch. We were warmly greeted and seated by the bartender/hostess Jaymie. Good Thai food is hard to find here on Oahu and I'm happy to say that Maile's Bistro has some of the best Thai food on the island. We ordered and enjoyed - Chicken pad Thai Spring rolls (crispy) Thai salad Mild yellow curry Sticky rice We could not get enough of these dishes! All of the dishes were flavorful, savory and made with fresh ingredients. Beautiful views, great service and delicious food, I'm a fan! I look forward to dining here again in the future.

The food is good (3.5 stars), but the prices are quite high (3 stars). In addition, there is a 3% Credit Card charge (3 stars). I see this happen more these days - so will take it. However, on top of this, there is a 3% 'Kitchen Charge'. Wait a minute. Why this additional charge? For the use of the kitchen? What is a restaurant without a Kitchen? How else will they prepare food? Oh, btw, this was for a take-out order. As other reviewers have mentioned, deceptive way to hike the price (0 stars). Will not return or recommend this place.

I've eaten here a couple of times. Their pricey and charge for extra sauce for the spring rolls. Perhaps they should get bigger condiments containers for takeout instead of these tiny little cups which are only enough sauce for one spring roll. So ridiculous. The food is just ok.

Preordered several Pad Thai the night before a big dinner event. Went to pick up the food. Was told order was lost - and food would not be ready for a hour. Love the food at Maile's - service just sucks.

The extra Kitchen charge, will the workers see any of that? Just wondering where its going or is the a "inflation sale"?
