Delicious sushi with good service. I got the chef's special mackerel and flounder, both were fresh and perfectly prepared. Everyone else in our party enjoyed theirs too. Would love to come back. It has a good relaxed ambience with a neighborhood feel, not packed with tourists.

Went back again and the food was still good. Went with a bigger group and made a res for 6:45. We got seated immediately. The service was good and we ended up ordering 3 chirashis, a tonkatsu teishoku and a 10 piece sushi set. No one had any complaints! We ordered a pitcher and a few sake samplers and they were all good. Parking in the back filled up though so make sure you come early or park on the street after 6:30

To start the service was amazing. As soon as I entered we were greeted and seated, wasn't to busy and is in a nice location. I got a fruit punch, it was good. Then for food I shared a variety of rolls including a Salmon & Avocado, Volcano, Dragon, California, etc. They were all AMAZING, I also took a bite of the Chicken Teriyaki which was great. For dessert I split the Lava cake, perfect temperature, Ice Cream was perfect, don't have much more to say expect for the fact that I would definitely recommend this restaurant if you're in Honolulu, 4/5.

My bestie & I had an impromptu dinner after work since she happened to be in town. We were supposed to have a Japanese dinner with sushi and all the good stuff the last time, but (long story short) we didn't get to. So we chose Mr. Ohioan since I've been wanting to try here for forever (well actually when they were at their original location). They're now by the old Sanoya (the new Ono-ya) on King St. The parking lot is a small lot in the back of the restaurant, on Hau'oli St. They have a few designated marked stalls. I'm guessing the rest would have to street park. It's very clean and looks new inside, with very spread out tables. And a bar if you would prefer to sit there. They had so many good menu items that we couldn't decide what to order. We got the French fries (for my friends son), wafu steak, grilled squid, chicken karaage, firecracker & caterpillar roll. The wafu steak and grilled squid were my favs. The steak was sooo tender & the toppings especially the garlic chips complimented the steak well. And the grilled squid was cooked to perfection with a soy sauce dipping sauce & grated ginger on the side. Everything was really good too. It's a little on the pricier side, but I definitely would come back. Next time I come, I wouldn't mind getting a drink to enjoy with my meal. The staff here are very nice and attentive. I'm not sure how crowded it gets on the weekend but when we went on a weekday we were able to get a table right away.

I've stopped by multiple times and I think I've developed a consistent review. The service is always so kind and friendly which makes the dining experience and atmosphere so much more enjoyable. The parking lot is really small and tight so if you don't find a stall, you'll probably have to find street parking. The food here is alright. I've had better Japanese food at other restaurants. The Nabeyaki udon didn't have much taste or flavor but at least the noodles weren't soggy! The tonkatsu sandwich was alright but the tonkatsu was kind of dry.

Neighborhood joint with good food and people. Arranged for the karaoke and celebration crowd. Also a good place for the pau hana crew depending on many you have. It can fill quickly. Don't forget to check the Specials board on your way in. Orion draft on tap.

Went for the first time for a birthday and was not too impressed. The food was good, but nothing special for the price points of the dishes and rolls. Only one option for draft beer, but thankfully it was Orion. Parking in the back is abundant, so no troubles there. Service was okay, but it could improve by not having to ask who got what dish or just placing it down in front of who they thought ordered it. Kind of had a bar feel to it but $20 for an AMF is a red flag.

The sashimi was good, but the rolls were not.We enjoyed the sushi boat which was a bit pricey, but it eliminated the need to pick individual items off the menu. Even the shredded daikon and the bed of garden greens on the boat were really fresh. There was a tofu appetizer (seemed like the tofu was very lightly fried) that was excellent. The sushi rolls were subpar. Did not enjoy the volcano roll. Panko flakes were stale and hard.Service was average.

One of the few places in Honolulu that you can still eat nabeyaki. We went on a Saturday for lunch without a reservation. But it's highly recommended to make reservations. We were told that weekdays are busier than weekends. They also have omakase for a reasonable price. Great service!!

Yummy yummy! Delicious food, friendly service and easy parking. Went for lunch today. Found parking easily in the lot in back. Tables are spaced out nicely so you don't feel crowded. We ordered the pork katsudon. So flavorful and tender meat. It was one of the best katsudon we've had. Assorted tempura was light and crispy just the way we like it. Big serving size. Volcano roll gives a nice kick! Great way to start the weekend!
