When I was growing up, going to school across the street at Aliamanu, they only had Pioneer Chicken at that corner of the Shopping Center. Several years later, after Pioneer Chicken was no more, I was pleased to discover this new Korean BBQ place that opened up there.
Always my first stop when I come to Hawaii. I've been having this for over 22 years.
Great food, not so clean eating area. We usually take out. Kalbi and meat jun (delicious sauce) is yummy!

Soon's Kal Bi Drive In is a local Korean restaurant that offers delicious take-out options. The BBQ Chicken and Saimin (with Bulgogi) are customer favorites, known for their unique and flavorful taste. The restaurant also serves a popular Mandoo Combo, featuring 3 pieces of Mandoo and BBQ Chicken with various sides. The Meat Jun and Kalbi combo are must-tries, with perfectly seasoned flavors. The veggies on the side are incredible, and the food comes out hot and fresh. Very friendly service and quick pick-up make it a great spot for a quick lunch. There are a couple of picnic tables outside, but it’s mostly a takeout place. Heads up, they only take cash. Located in the back corner of Salt Lake Shopping Center next to Pizza Hut, there’s lots of free parking right in front.
