I ordered the butterfish laulau plate and really only enjoyed the pipikaula. The butterfish was mild and steamed in the taro leaves gave it a healthy and fresh taste but it lacked flavor. The lomi salmon was also meh. The poi however was rancid. I know some people like their poi fermented but it was just too sour to taste.
The dining area is a little beat up but adds character.
I probably won’t return with the abundance of choices on the island.

Delicious first stop whenever we visit for local and Hawaiian food. Everything is good and very much comfort food. My favorites are beef stew and rice, and pipikaula. Old fashioned blue collar feel and always friendly service.

Sadly ran outta poi and not much butterfish otherwise best laulau on da island, the porks nice and fatty. I'm sure they've acquired more poi, if you from da mainland go get some real good Hawaiian food!

Stepping in this multiple award-winning iconic restaurant feels like stepping into a time machine. The place is filled with locals getting their fix of Hawaiian delicacies ranging from laulau to poke bowl. They are not pretentious, they know they serve good food and provide fast service. It might be overwhelming for tourists/newcomers because they won't be able to see what they are ordering but you can't go wrong with whatever you want to order. The decor also screams Hawaiian in a charming old school way.
Vegetarian options: There is a vegetarian laulau available which is pretty rare because most of the time laulau is made with pork. Other than that I don't think there's a lot vegetarian options
Parking: The place is within a shopping complex so there's plenty of free parking available. People are always coming in and out.

Bought the 15 dollar mixed meat and rice plate. Included sweet potato, a harder type of pork, kalua pig, and pork Laulau. The kalua pig was super good! I'd highly recommend that.

Was expecting a higher class experience but now I understand why the gift cards are $70 for a $100 at Costco. Dingy atmosphere, employees don’t appear happy, Worst “authentic” Hawaiian food I’ve had on all the islands. Salmon and Kalua pork…only flavor was the incredible amount of salt used, could barely eat it, actually left most of it on my plate in favor of white rice and the Mac salad I ordered separately. I won’t be back. Mark’s place, here I come!
