“We stopped to get some dessert to go with the dinner we were going to make after a rainy day of sightseeing. I picked the sweet potato haupia pie, my husband had the lilikoi chiffon with cream cheese, and my nephew had the 4 pc Ube Mochi. We each tried a taste of each other’s desserts and I liked the lilikoi dessert the best. I forgot to take pics of the desserts but we also bought a dozen of taro rolls which we used for breakfasts egg sandwiches for 2 of the days. Ruth was so helpful and friendly in answering all my questions about the desserts in helping my selection. My mom grew up in Hawaii and used to make haupia and delicious rolls so it brought back some sweet memories and was especially fitting since part of our reason for our trip was to scatter some of her ashes.“

“Our family very recently vacationed in Kauai to celebrate my parents 50th anniversary. I had reached out to Ko Bakery several weeks before our trip to have a cake made to surprise my parents. We chose the Haupia with Lime buttercream and also got a dozen cupcakes (yellow cake with chocolate buttercream) for the kiddos. The cake and cupcakes were AMAZING!!!! Their customer service is incredible (especially since we were communicating through email) and pick up was a breeze. I highly recommend Ko Bakery!!!“

“If you haven’t been to sugar roots for coffee and a sweet baked treat you should add it to your list now. The owner, Brittnee, born and raised in Kauai, creates a warm welcoming atmosphere. She is an incredibly talented baker and this is not a place to be missed. While there be sure to take moment to read through the history of her family that she openly shares through photos and books.“

“The ginger snaps are amazing! Everything is amazing! We loved the cheesecakes as well.“
“We were a group of three families with teens and had so much fun. It is the most beautiful coastline! Since there had a been a “historic” storm the week we were there our amazing boat captain did an excellent job getting us out of the surf of the harbor and navigating the waves. Kai and Aka were super fun! They were all very informative about the history of Kauai. The most amazing part was how he got that boat in and out of the beautiful caves. We saw dolphins, and my favorite- sea turtles. Although the snorkel spot did not have as many fish or the best reef, it was still a great time and I would recommend it for the coastline itself. The lunch (Hawaiian plate of Kalua pork, shrimp & chicken) was the best I’ve had on a snorkel excursion in Hawaii.“
“Love the food here. You gotta be there really early for the full spread of rolls, I love the spicy crab, portuguese sausage, or flying saucers. They’re prepared food is great too, I love the kim chee fried rice omelet or the brisket bomb. Been coming here for years, owners are really kind hardworking people. My favorite breakfast spot in lihue!“

“Looking for an ice cream treat near Poipu? You’ll find it in Koloa at Koloa Mill Ice Cream and Coffee. They offer about 30 flavors of which “Banana Mac” was my favorite. So much so I had it three days in a row!! They also have Shave Ice, pastries and coffee. The servings are reasonably priced, generous and the service friendly!! We highly recommend a visit and while there you can visit the other quaint shops.“
“Popo's Cookies was a great first place to stop while exploring Hanapepe! There is a parking lot across the street, then going down the alley brings you into a quaint courtyard.
The selection of cookies made it hard to choose, but we went with the Coconut Macadamia Nut Cookies and they did not disappoint. It turned into our lunch while we walked down the main street of Hanapepe.“

“We stumbled across Sugar Skull while on vacation. The carrot cake is the best I have ever had. We just had 12 packs of macaroons shipped to us for my son’s 14th birthday. He is in heaven!“
