Went there to have Ono. The fish was dry and was returned. Told us someone else had also had the same opinion about the Ono that evening. They were nice about it and something else was ordered. Food was o.k. Our stuffed mushrooms appetizer was great. The sushi type dish one of us had looked yummy. My Hawaiian style chicken was underwhelming. Could get a better looking and tasting dish eating in at a take-out Teriyaki place. Very overpriced, for the presenation and taste, even for Kauai.

BEST sushi! The service was phenomenal. We ate at the sushi bar and initially I was a little disappointed that’s all they had but then I felt like we had the best seats in the house. Truly the best sushi my husband and I ever had. The seafood chowder, calamari, and the hamachi were incredible. A “must go to” place!

Great service and ambience and food! We tried to book online but it said full….. turns out they are simply short staffed like most places ……we went early and got a spot outside on the nice patio/ deck. The food was great but more expensive than we thought, inflation has kicked in, well worth it if you don’t mind spending the money !

We wanted to have a sushi and Dolphin Poipu was recommended to us. We made a reservation and was seated immediately. We ordered cocktails and ordered the shrimp cocktail, lava, hanalei, poipu and sunset over the top rolls. It was definitely enough food for five people. The restaurant is in the Shops of Kukui'ula in Kauai, Hawaii. There is plenty of parking. If you happened to have to wait for a table, there are tons of fun shops to peruse through.

Kid-friendliness: Family friendly.

Parking: Plenty of parking at the Shops.

Dietary restrictions: The chef was able to accommodate one of our guest's dietary restrictions.

Went back here twice that’s how good it was!!! Endless amount of items on the menu!! So good even if you aren’t a fish eater like myself. Best loaded baked potato. A must go!!!

Great service, good cooked seafood, subpar sushi. Our waiter was good and attentive. The kids had swordfish and shrimp which they both said were really good. Our sushi was ok. Sashimi was very thick cut which is great if it’s high quality fish, but they fish didn’t taste great. I expected really fresh fish on the island but was disappointed. The roll we had was ok. I wouldn’t go back but it wasn’t horrible just subpar vs my expectations.

Our dinner here was hugely disappointing. It took an hour to get our food. The ahi was so overcooked that you would never know it was fresh fish. Drinks were imaginative but watered down. We were not the only unhappy ones. The table next to us canceled their order and walked out after waiting too long. Used to love this place but won’t be going back any time soon. On the plus side the spicy tuna roll appitizer was good and our server was friendly and did apologize for the long wait. But that didn’t excuse the food prep or the wait.

Shrimp and lobster both good but not special. Prices were reasonable. Service was friendly and efficient. Very minimal wait with reservations.

Excellent meal; our fish was perfectly seasoned and cooked! Really delicious, hot and fresh. Like many island restaurants they may be a little understaffed, but patience is a virtue and the food is well worth the wait and the lovely atmosphere.

Dietary restrictions: Server knew spice ingredients and was very helpful guiding me with gluten free keto options.

We've been frequenting The Dolphin Hanalai (a favorite) for years, now. But, this time, we stayed in Poipu for our first vacation to Kauai since 20 19. We were delighted to find The Dolphin has opened an offshoot in Poipu. What a terrific addition to Kauai's South Shore. We started our meal with an appetizer of their amazing sushi, then proceeded to order the fresh fish ( Hapi and MahiMahi), grilled with a lemon butter side. The wait staff was charming and extremely helpful. Great atmosphere in a very high-end resort shopping center.

Not sure why so many mixed reviews but almost didn't make one because of the bad. My wife and I had a great experience with great food and great service. Keenan was a cool guy and super knowledgeable. My wife and I both had the fresh catch of the day, Shutome (Hawaiian Swordfish). Hers char-broiled and mine was blackened, both amazing.

Reservations not honored for table of 2 resulted in a 40 minute wait to be seated. Table and menus hastily cleaned and presented with grime and roe from previous patrons. Server was too rushed to help answer questions about local fish selections. Due to delay to be seated, multiple entrees were unavailable by the time we ordered. Drink order forgotten. Plates to table took another 50 minutes. Dishes served were well prepared and tasty, but not worth the cost, wait, and poor service.

Meals were pretty good. Piece of fish came out almost completely raw. Restaurant took care of it immediately. Waiter was outstanding - 5 star. Very good dessert
