I have had some amazing times here, however, my last visit was not what it should be, I went to see the live music, got a drink which was made wrong, tried to explain, but they didn't care, mind you it was an $18 drink, I drank it anyway, the bar cleared out leaving me the only person at the bar, the female bartender ignored me and left my drink sit empty for over 30 minutes, I was enjoying the music which is why I was there, but then there instantly was a party upstairs that...read full review
Beautiful atmosphere. Great steak. Great drinks. Wonderful service
Food was delicious and was prepared pretty quickly. We tried the Mochiko Chicken, Fish Tacos, Pork tacos & Spicy Poke Bowl. Beautiful atmosphere and friendly wait staff. Best part for my kiddo was the egret begging for food at our table. The bird may or may not have tried and enjoyed a piece of tuna...

Located poolside at Hyatt Regency Maui, Umalu is a casual seated restaurant offering incredibly delicious food, including a special of the day not on the menu. Friendly and attentive servers like Alona provide great service, even recreating a delicious burger from a year ago. The outdoor dining area has umbrellas for shade, with a full-service bar. Guests highly recommend the Umalu burger with cheddar cheese and sriracha aioli, as well as the flavorful filet mignon. Live music in the evenings adds to the great dining experience, making it a must-visit spot at the Hyatt Regency Kaanapali.
The ambience was great, and the service was okay. On the food side, the burger was really good, including the fries, but the quantity was less for the price. The vegetarian pasta was very bland. The Mai tai was awesome!
Guests also enjoyed trying the wings, mushroom flatbread, and the hurricane fries. The wings and flatbread were pretty average, but the hurricane fries were very liked. Visitors never had to wait long for a table, and the location is very convenient. The service was consistently great, with food arriving quickly, hot, and waters being refilled regularly. As drinks neared the bottom, staff often asked if another was wanted.
Umalu is praised for its variety, especially for those following a plant-based diet. The vegan options are plentiful, creative, and delicious. For vegans, vegetarians, or anyone wanting to try something new and healthy without sacrificing flavor, Umalu remains a must-visit destination.
