I hate to leave a negative review, because I really love kalapawai, especially this Waimanalo location. However, a change has been made that I feel very passionately about. Recently, a decision has been made to change the chips in the pork and poke nachos from wonton chips to tortillas chips. I vehemently disagree with this decision. When I have friends or family visit, my first food recommendation is the pork nachos from kalapawai. It is a hit every single time I introduce someone to it. I would even go insofar as to argue that the wonton chip pork nachos is an iconic and signature dish from kalapawai. I have never been to another establishment who does nachos this way. I understand you’re able to substitute for wonton chips; but if it isn’t broke, don’t fix it. This is a unique, staple dish that cannot be found anywhere else. Please, for your legacy’s sake, consider changing it back.

Perfect place to have a meal while visiting Waimanolo Beach, which is a short walk away. The food is surprisingly good for a beach cafe--I had a solid pastrami sandwich, and my wife had a delicious Mana Bowl with garlic shrimp. She has Celiac and must eat strictly gluten free, and they had many safe options for her. The service was friendly and prompt. They have indoor and outdoor seating, and a handful of parking spaces out front.

If you set next to the wall that has soda spatter on it dont worry the ants and roaches gobble it at night.
It looks lije it was an old oil or car garage. If you have ornithophobia its not a place for you. Lots of pigeons inside which can keep your kids occupied. The burgers are small but real tasty. I had a Ruben on day old bread. It was ok.
Fun place try it out.
We stopped here to pick up a coffee ☕ before heading out on the days adventure. Had a ono bento box breakfast, with 2 eggs, spam, Portuguese sausage, crispy bacon, and rice! With the view of the mountain range made this spot a great find!
Great food, great people, great vibes. We got mana bowls and chai, both were fantastic

The service was absolutely terrible.
It took 30 minutes just to get two sandwiches. Even worse was the staff's attitude; instead of apologizing, they served a customer who arrived long after me before serving me.
I just wanted a sincere apology, but simply made excuses about a system error.
I have no intention of ever visiting again. If you plan to go there, be prepared to wait over 30 minutes for a single sandwich and put up with the staff's awful attitude.

Ordered fish tacos to go. There are two benches out front to wait, but the smell is truly terrible and would put anyone off of a meal. For $22 the fish tacos really went down- just some fish and cabbage and no presentation. Tasted fine but really seemed like they just threw slapped them together. For that much you’d think they could throw in rice and beans or chips or anything really and up the presentation.

We wanted to go to a local restaurant. The food was just ok. The garlic cheese bread with tomato sauce was very good, but the kids’ spaghetti wasn’t a hit for them (one got spaghetti with butter and one got spaghetti with red sauce). The staff was pleasant but we didn’t get refills very quickly and our table had puddles of water when we were seated with no napkins to clean it. The atmosphere was comfortable with beautiful artwork on the wall and open air seating inside and outside.

Such a great little spot! The food was really delicious, the portions were big, and everything tasted fresh. I had a shrimp dish and they were very generous with the shrimp, which I really appreciated. Great value for the money, especially compared to some popular food trucks with long lines and overpriced small portions. The service was also super friendly. Definitely recommend!
