Great restaurant with amazing views right on the beach! Don't forget to check out the mantas after sunset. They are just up the stairs!

One of my favorite meals I look forward to eating... Cesar Salad and grilled Mahi Mahi. Off the menu now, but ordered Kahlua Fries (fries a la carte and side of Kahlua pork with aioli) thanks to a great server. Perfect lunch while at the beach.

My wife and I went to visited here during an excursion and were blown away by the service we received. Our waitress was phenomenal, and the food came out quickly. I had a strawberry margarita and the burger with jalapeño sauce. My wife had the catch of the day. Both of our plates were delicious! The views were great, and the resort ambiance was impressive. I would definitely recommend making a stop. I only take off one star due to the pricing being excessively high, but it was slightly cheaper than the rest of the restaurants at the resort.

Server gave excellent service and he definitely added to the quality of our experience. Menu was limited. Fish tacos had good flavor but not enough mahi mahi. Only one chunk of fish that filled half the tortilla. This was try for ALL three fish tacos, so pretty skimpy for $26!

Food was good, drinks were so-so. The staff were friendly and helpful with recommendations. The atmosphere was amazing. One of the best open air beach restaurants.

The Hau Tree is the only beach restaurant for this hotel and this little bay. We found that it had all the requisite amenities that you'd expect: themed outdoor bar (see bar pic), tables near the sand, great bay view, beach restrooms and a short walk from the hotel. I posted a pic of the menu - straight-forward and simple. The service at the bar was very quick, yet the table service was marginal. We started with the Club Sandwich. As you can see in my pic, there was generous amount of thick cut breast meat, as was the nice layer of bacon. I really liked the ratio of bread to meat and bacon. The turkey sandwich flavors were all there and it was a filling sandwich. The chips were only a salty tidbit to go with your favorite beverage. The Kona Kanpachi Nicoise was a nice medley of veggies and fish, see my pic. As you can see, everything was fresh. The fish was cooked just right. We had the mango vinaigrette on the side, which added the right amount of fruity, Hawaiian flavor to this classic salad.

Arrive early and walk the grounds, see the manta rays after dinner. Or wander the grounds and star-gaze (it was a new moon with great visibility)The daily catch was delicious and filling. The Meyer Lemon Cheesecake was so-so; it was airy and not creamy. It made me wonder if it was from a jello mix, honestly. But I'm from New York so maybe my cheesecake standards are high. The Meyer Lemon was a small layer on top of a regularly flavored cake. Lots of blueberries and strawberries with it was nice. If I went again I would get a more local dessert, which probably plays to their strengths.Complementary valet parking. All in all, a very nice dinner, great service, and a memorable atmosphere.

Had dinner here to see the manta rays as we were not staying the night at this resort. The fish tacos were really good but everything else was mediocre and the catch of the day was bland and not worth the $45 price. Maybe just get a drink here if you want to see the manta rays or use the public beach access parking and hang around until dark to see them. This place was expensive and the service was terrible.

Excellent food at the best view on the island. I enjoyed my meal and got my best sunset photos here. Moderate prices for excellent food. Cocktails are fabulous as well. See you next time!

Location is great, in front of the beach with amazing ocean view. Probably better for dinner to watch the sunset. I wasn't expected much and thought it would be standard bar food. However, it's still shocking to see a luxury resort's $19 salad looks like this. It's looks like a side dish and hardly feed a kid, very disappointed. Service is average, they are friendly but kinda slow. Would not recommended!

I ate here for lunch twice during my stay with my boyfriend. I was a little hesitant to go, just because the 3 star reviews, but in so glad i did! Great service from bar tenders too! And the view of the ocean... what more can I ask for?! It is pricey over all because of the hotel bar, but it was worth spending money. Their dessert was amazing too!!

Even if you’re not a resort member, you can tell the gate guard you want to have dinner down at Hau tree and they’ll let you through. The only parking is valet, but it is complementary. The Fredrico and Mai tai here are no joke! They are incredibly well made and are perfect to watch the sunset with. The dinner menu was pretty solid, and was pretty tasty, if slightly pricey. Come here for the drinks if nothing else!

Ate dinner there last night, gorgeous beach, friendly staff and casual vibe. Sunset was gorgeous, food was meh. Chicken wings still cold (from frozen). I had market fish (Ono) which was bland. Spent all night and today sick in my hotel room, I presume as a result of the food. I did not drink alcohol. My family's meals were equally bland, but they did not get sick. So maybe fish or chicken wings (which were replaced) were mis-prepared or contaminated. Ugh!

This is a very casual beachfront resort bar with food. Servers very very nice and prompt. Food is very small portions and just ok, drinks were the worst I'd ever had on the big island. Open table, please put ‘beachwear' in the description somewhere as we were over dressed. All in all a huge disappointment for $400.
