“We were in town for the Fly Iowa airshow and always try to find local places to stop at. We were not disappointed at all. Their breakfast was perfectly cooked to order and exactly what we needed before our busy day at the airport. The staff was attentive and personable, just made our day. “Yesterday, my husband and I tried El Toro in Clinton. I have long since just enjoyed Mexican for what it is usually is outside of the western states, Tex mex. I was raised by a nana who made a fresh pot of frijoles weekly, that she usually had me wash for her, and roasted her chiles on the comal for her salsa until the smoke cleared the room. Every time she’d see me “Queres comer mija?” and you never told nana no. I had beans & eggs with verde salsa and fresh tortillas with her countless times. I have never found anything similar to her beans in any state I’ve been to, until yesterday. The beans is always my test, that and the tamales. I judge tamales to be like my Tias, who would make them all day from scratch; the only reicipe I follow myself. Everything, minus the salsa, was perfect. The music had me genuinely dancing in my seat, the food made me want to order seconds, and to add a plus, Jesse found the queso he loves so much from his hometown. The service was great and personable, we had several fun conversations with the staff. I can’t recommend it enough and I look forward to returning. It felt a lot like home. Thank you from this second generation Mexican American family, you made our day.”

“The last 2 times I have been sick, my partner has picked up Homer’s chicken noodle soup to make me feel better. I love making homemade chicken noodle soup for when he feels bad, but when I don’t have the energy to make it for myself you are the go to!! Sandwiches are also delicious, but the chicken noodle soup is where it’s at!!!”

“This bar is a gem in the heart of the Midwest, conveniently located for both locals and visitors. The atmosphere is cozy, and the staff is friendly, making it a great spot for a night out. The selection of drinks is impressive, and the food menu has some fantastic options. However, the only reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is that when I ordered a soda, the water had a slightly odd smell, which was a bit off-putting. Overall, it's a solid choice for a snack while passing thru the town, but they might want to check on that water issue.”

“To begin with, I was celebrating my birthday with my kids and I wanted to go someplace I hadn't been to before. The owner was very nice and the food was delicious. My kids mentioned it was my birthday earlier in the week, so at the end of our meal I was served a wonderful dessert with a candle and people sang Happy Birthday to me and I got to blow out the candle. Then she did a silly trick and put whipped cream on my face. We laughed so hard. It was so fun. Thank you Gloria for the wonderful food and evening!

“We have a group, 5-8 of us who go for Taco Tuesday every week. Our server these days is Summer. When each member of our group arrives, she makes sure they get a drink, but then she ignores us for over an hour, until one of our group goes to the bar and tells her we want to order. She also let's our beer glasses get empty and sit there until we flag her down or finally get our food and can ask for another. With past servers. Some of us would have 3-5 beers before we pay and leave. With Summer, we barely get two beers because she does not come back and ask. Our group is now looking for another place to go. We have been coming to Slops for several years now and have never had such poor service. Owner/ Manager she is seriously losing you money. If she is doing it to us, she is serving others poorly too.”

“I’ve been to a lot of Jersey Mike’s restaurants all over the country, as I travel a lot for work. This is one of the best Jersey Mike’s I’ve ever been to. The bathrooms were clean, the staff was very fast/friendly, the food was fresh, and it tasted great. This is one restaurant I was happy to provide a tip for the staff.”

Not sure if that's the norm but, I appreciated it. I ordered the Double Cheese Burger with bacon & Wedges. Everything tasted fresh and juicy. I couldn't finish all my burger but I tried.. lol”

“Excellent customer service displayed by Angie at the front registers yesterday! During the downpour late afternoon several customers were waiting to run to our cars until the storm subsided. Angie showed us to the drive up and offered to have someone load groceries for us. She also offered solutions to keep our frozen products cold until the rain let up. It’s excellent customer concern like Angie displayed that keeps me coming back to Hyvee.”

“The location of this establishment is not inviting or warm. The parking lot had enough vehicles in it that something was extremely wrong or right. It turned out to be right. Welcomed as soon as we walked in. Sat at the bar and greeted by the bartender who turned out to be the manager. She introduced us to the owner. The beer selection on tap was ample. Speaking of ample, the capacity of this restaurant is 450. Balconies, huge pool table room as well as plenty of seating. The food was good. I wouldn't order the cod I had again. It was tasty but also greasy. My wife stated her food was good.\nWould go back again.”

“My hotel was next so walked into the Casino because I was bored. Its very small and they only have dice and card tables open on certain days. The place was extremely clean. For a place that still has smoking indoors, they must have an amazing ventilation system because you cant smell it at all.”

We had to meet her after our dinner to tell her what a wonderful job she had done with the décor, but Especially the food! 😋🤤😋👌 lol. We had chicken fajita platters and they were the Best I've ever had! The Arroz, Spanish Rice that she makes, is the Best Restaurant rice we had ever had as well!
They Even put up the construction of facades of Mexican, adobe type home fronts, Along with All of the other fabulous décor! The place is adorable!
Since she took ownership away from their old boss-man that they actually had been Employed under here. And now She's the owner! Ooh wee! I definitely had to meet this wonderful-cooking, motivated, Latina momma and give her her Props for achieving that great feat! She was so kind and gracious about it all as well.
