When I go to an upscale restaurant I expect a dress code. There is no excuse for wearing or allowing t-shirts and work jeans on either men or women. Three of the four tables around us were dressed like it was McDonald’s.
My husband and I came in for a Sunday evening date night and had a reservation, where I clearly noted a severe dairy allergy. Drinks took a bit longer than expected, but our appetizers came out and were enjoyable. Unfortunately, the experience went downhill with the main course. When ordering, I again emphasized no dairy, yet my steak arrived with a large dollop of butter on top, making it unsafe for me to eat. We dined at Ruthie's for our anniversary. We dressed up but did not feel out of place. The server was attentive and the food was fantastic. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The noise level was quiet enough that we could have a nice conversation without feeling like we had to yell.
